So, this was gonna be a status post, but then i realized I am pissed enough to have the need of seeing people justifying me being pissed.

So, I got a booster dose today, and the person vaccinated people was talking on the phone.

I must had waited there for tens of minutes before my turn, and she still was talking, just blah blah blah.

She was just stabbing people while talking on the phone, which really wasn't good for my fear of blood and gore.

When it was my turn, she told me to slide my collar down enough to expose my arm, but since I was wearing a tight shirt, it wasn't possible.

I offered to remove my shirt, but she said, "No need," and just stabbed me on my shoulder.

Thankfully, she was soon scolded by a superior, so that was nice.

Wow, That was very rude and unprofessional of them. It is enough that people can be nervous about getting shots, having someone act like that at the same time just ratchets it up even further. As someone who grew up deathly afraid of needles, due to less than stellar medics and being a very small and thin child, when all the needles looked like they would go through arm to me. That would set me off, and I am a LOT better now about it then when I was younger.

If I understood this correctly, she did the injection OVER the shirt. That is malpractice, and they could get sued for this.
Putting the psychological aspects aside, there are regulations for parenteral injections, like vaccines, and what she did counts as a big no no. Without disinfecting the skin first the needle isn't sterile anymore, so the bacteria from the skin and clothes can stick on the needle and cause infection. Look out for major swelling, redness, heat and pain on the vaccination site. If you have any, go to a hospital. :blobthumbsup:

As someone in the medical profession myself, I find this behavior highly inappropriate. That's not just rude, you can actually injure someone by injecting them without properly paying attention.

My response would have been to remain standing and out of reach of the person, and wait until they noticed and responded. When asked why I'm not sitting down, I would explain how I find myself to be in danger getting an injection from a distracted person, and that I refuse to take a seat until she hangs up the phone. I would remain that way until she stopped. If she continued to insist, I would demand someone higher up be called.

This kind of behavior is definitely inappropriate. This is the kind of situation where you need to be a little obstinate with these kinds of people.

Thankfully, that didn't happen, they actually kept me at the site for like half an hour for stuff like this.
Yes, not disinfecting the skin was a really big no go, and I am still afraid of what that mis position needle shall do to me now

Where I went, for me at least, only you yourself alone is allowed to go into the jab room for a jab. Unless of course you are below the age of consent and therefore requiring a supervising adult.
