There shouldn't be any real difference in writing the MC and the Lead. They're both the MC in their story, which would make the other the Lead in that story.

As to my preference... I tend to take the Lancer approach. They should complement each other in some ways, and still see eye to eye on the important things.

I like competent characters, so my FLs and MLs must be as competent or even more competent than my MC.

One of my character is literally my Deus Ex Machina, she's just a phone call away from solving everything.

If you don’t like it, don’t read it. It’s as simple as that.

And in any case, I can cite any number of rabbonim, Orthodox, Conservative and Progressive, not to mention Jewish scholars of Biblical Studies, whose commentaries trouble the straightforward reading of both the Vaikra verses referring to homosexual relationships.

Moreover, even some of those who agree with the straightforward reading (minus the “put to death” part, it’s been millennia since our tradition has evolved to understand the Torah as more sophisticated than “put everyone you don’t like to death”) have said that it is better to welcome gay couples to synagogue than to alienate your fellow Jews on a matter that isn’t even your business.

And if you’re a Christian, you shouldn’t be tossing Torah quotes around like that, your own founder has repeatedly said the new laws he brought you supersede the old law, so maybe like, Vayikra’s kinda irrelevant to you. I’m sure you can find plenty of crude homophobia to cite from the writings of the Apostles and Shaul HaTarsi, nu?

If you don’t know what the Torah is, maybe you shouldn’t be quoting from English translations of it!

Well, my protagonist is weak-ass so the partner has to be inhumanly strong. Well, he isn't hooman after all, so yeah.

I like the partner characters contrasting each other in at least one of their main traits (so I have an easy way to write drama if I ever should need some).
My current MC for example is a chill and cautious dude you (and he himself) don't want to see angry, so I made his partner adventurous and nosy (and really smug) but also shy and easily scared.

It generally just makes it more fun if characters bounce off of each other instead of just wagging their tails following MC and lauding them to high heaven for everything. If you want validation get yourself a motivational poster, for flogs sake...

The straight man partner. I like to write an MC who is eccentric and does a lot of crazy things, although there is a method to the madness.

the best partner in this regard is someone serious who puts up with the antics.

Hmm...you're quite right, though I've read and enjoyed works with radically different MC and leads, which, imo complement each other.

My MC was an initial weak-ass as well, partnered with supernaturally-powered individuals. He gets some magic in the end, though still with certain limitation because I don't want to write overpowered isekai characters >.<

True! This is what I aim for whenever writing stuff. It's kind of boring to have characters agree all the time, and it applies to real life as well XD
:blob_hmm_two: I think I like to write bad bitches. :blob_uwu:
Sometimes, I tempted. But these people irks me, so I can't fully 'observe' them to study their behaviors and attitudes. >.<

'Ordered' chaos is one of the best tropes, imo. The sophistication of its execution is its main selling point to me.

Sounds to me like you'd enjoy the World's best Engineer, a Korean Manwha. The MC is so chaotic that I end up laughing out loud on the majority of the chapters.
Well, one thing I don't like is Korean Manhwa itself. For some reason, whenever I read one, it feels too 'heavy' for me. (I don't know if it's because the characters are edgy, or the art lines are quite 'heavy' to the eyes...)

In any case, I'll check out your recommendation! Thanks! :blobreading:

I'm not striving for realism as much as you do, this allows me to do whatever I want. I also think there is a shortage of such characters. And lastly, I don't limit the meaning of the term 'bad bitches' to nasty women.
