Threads like this are why I dropped things I used before, like EM dashes, because I really, really liked using them. was so much more appealing to the eye than putting commas everywhere. (I write long sentences, you see)

Then I had to drop them all because of people like you lot. (not a valid accusation, but these are my honest feelings)

This AI paranoia is making me change how I write, so I don't get into drama. Utter bullshit… but what can I do, especially when I rely on Grammarly too because I am not a native speaker and want to make things as good as possible.

Then as Dec and Envy had said, people who rely on the unreliable could just go around with nonsense accusations, which could kill future writers before they start…

Because the anti-AI people blindly trust AI detectors.

Sorry for the rant, but it grinds my gears to no end, so don't take anything personally here.

If you're afraid of the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Why ruin your unique style over baseless accusations? Punctuation and syntax are the core of any language. Focus on writing well and ignore the paranoia.

I see what you're saying, but it's dumb. They added a new burner in the kitchen. Every white collar industry is getting new burners, and people will just say to deal with it. Meanwhile, most of the ones who are getting success in spite of everything will have to deal with the heat. All because of bad actors hoping to make quick money.

I used to use them a LOT, even had the ASCII code to insert them into Windows files memorized (along with ° and the values for some fractions) because it is useful if you expect the text to be read aloud - shows where a longer pause needs to be made, to reflect a shift in focus and thought.

And I am a little bit back to using them on PocketFM as AI readers love the things, but I don't use them anywhere near as much as I used to.

You would think being able to spot Ai written stories would be an amazing talent to have, no, no it's not. This have ruined the reading experience of many books that I genuinely liked not because of the plot, but because of the nagging feeling that it was written by ai and then finding out to my great disappointment that it was indeed written by chat gpt once I put it into zero gpt.

Sure, maybe it's a false positive but when you write like ai using phrasing like "it's not just amazing, it's wonderful" it an enormous red flag for me.

Look, I'm not saying I don't like ai stories, it's that I don't like the way the ai write the stories. Big diff, the way ai write is so off putting and huge turn off to me,is this just me? Or does anyone else feels the same?

Sorry for the rant, really had to get this off my chest.

Tldr: I don't like how AI write as an author, just me?
My novel is also AI-Assisted but I don't think it gives the AI wibes to my readers

My experience with AI is that when you use it like a tool and assistant (explain this subject to me so I can write about it, do this math for me, what do you think of this dialogue, should I use a comma or a semicolon here?) it can significantly help unlock your potential if you take it with a grain of salt. But I find most AI misadventures usually start with trying to get them to do your thinking for you, then them getting increasingly unhinged as they reach their context window limits and begin hallucinating.

I'll be fine. I started writing before AI was booming, and I have completed books I can point towards, so I'll be fine. It will be the new writers, like you, who will be fucked if you get a review saying you are an AI user.
Authors simply need to create such degenerate content that it would never pass the AI content filters :blob_sir:
