All humans are selfish on some level. We only do anything for ourselves, even if we say it's for others. If you don't enjoy doing things for others, you're considered selfish. If you do enjoy doing it, whether for the appreciation from others, the fame, or even simply because you get a release of endorphins, you're still doing it for yourself, just in a way that helps others, and that makes others consider you a nice person.
