I'm winning by liking Outlaw Star unapologetically. I also like the Irresponsible Captain Tylor.

Notice : it seems kinda low quality and old-nya.
It's a little bit old, but the artistic style (fish-eye camera, etc.) made sure it visually aged very well.

But it's mostly good because it's a really darn good story with quite realistic characters. There's about.. 3 episodes out the 26 I would tell people to skip, because they are pretty bad.

But the first 8 episodes basically is like watching 2 movies back to back, and they're VERY solid.
The last 4 (or is it 5?) episodes is the epic end of the entire series where they have all the cool things they've been building up to, so it's also excellent.
So already, 12 amazing episodes out of 26, and 3 bad ones. That leaves about 11 episodes in the middle that are of average-to-good quality.

Kick ass opening music too.

Also: One of the only anime I watch in English instead of Japanese. The dubbing is excellent, and Gene Starwind sounds like such a brat in Japanese.

I like the whole soundtrack, personally, but I am an auditory type person with a memory that associates feelings to music. So Outlaw Star songs all have a huge advantage.

The plot is great. It's also pretty mature, so if you don't like adult themes, you may want to stay clear. Gene is a womaniser, and doesn't hesitate to hit the down, drink, and bring ladies to hotel rooms. So yeah.
