First they take away the yaoi, now they take away the wish fulfilment.

What next? Women's right for education?

This is like banning the Wattpad trope of bad boy x good girl :blob_hide: they were toxic, yes... but damn they sure were a canon event of a teen girls' reading journey.

still better than censoring cigarettes with candy and letting women in bikinis run on the battlefield.
Admittedly, it's definitely gotten much better. However, I always wondered why don't female fighters in fantasy stories and video games get those cool, massive armor plates like male fighters. What's a piece of metal around the tatas gonna protect? :ROFLMAO:

Honestly, this trope is incredibly toxic... in the real world, if you practice this trope... you'll likely become a potential victim of domestic violence. Trust me!

They're not worried about censoring women in bikinis... they're just worried about losing customers.... lol

Exactlyyy! I never liked those stories. Whenever I read them and the MLs start speaking nonsense I was always thinking "who tf are you? :blob_thor:" Maybe that's why I had second male lead syndrome (often soft boys) in romance haha.

Back to the thread topic—billionaire CEO tropes were around that era of dominant bad boys too. So you often get CEOs who are childish, toxic, emotionally abusive, but gOoD-LoOkiNG. I as a Chinese woman disagree with most censorships, including this one. But I definitely would like some discouragement against these tropes. Or, better yet, encourage a healthier trope instead. Of course, I know that many people who indulge in these popular tropes know it's just fantasy and won't pursue it in real life (hence it's wish fulfillment). Just a lot of younger viewers and readers can get easily influenced in the wrong direction.

I mean, on one hand, they're doing something against the toxic tropes that destroy literature, on the other, it's authoritarian China.

the real CEOs are just embarrassed/salty that the CEOs in those dramas are all looking young (and have lush hair) which is quite the opposite to irl
