The new question is what is the ideal length of time you as a reader want to spend reading a chapter?

60sec?
3 mins?
10 mins?
30 mellons?

If the premise of the story is interesting, I will read that chapter to the end... to find out whether the narrative really commits to the narrative promise of the story's premise in the synopsis. I don't think about how long it will take, especially when I have free time. But if the premise of the story doesn't interest me, I'm reluctant even to open that chapter.

I think 15~20 minutes is my preferred duration. Anything less than 5 is really annoying.
