After watching the finals parts of overlord 4 and reading eminence in shadow, i kinda love it, mainly when the MC do something dumb an somehow that become a 4D move or he save the day on misunderstandings alone.
So if you know stories like that please share here.

Only thing I can think of is an old anime, Irresponsible Captain Tylor. It was originally a light novel.

Losing Money to be a Tycoon is sort of like it. He basically fail or miss his target on all his missions. I don’t think he’s dumb, but he’s unlucky and lucky at the same time for plot and comedy.

The Novel's Extra & The Villain Wants to Live, both from the same author who loves using the misunderstanding in moving his plot,
and having his main protagonist seem as if having a hidden aura of mastery which he does not really have. These two checks out and both are finished.

Does this count the boat load of stories where the author talks up the MC's abilities for example their fighting skills and or has them training through the story but every time they actually fight they are terrible and need miracles to save them from a wet paper bag?

Isn't he sorta capable though?

I don't remember well since the bitch of an author didn't want translations of his retarded web novel
yeah but a lot of stuff that happened just WORKED OUT for him. He wanted something else to happen, and yet instead THIS happened and basically ended up putting him in a better position. He's capable enough to make it seem believable, but luck is a huge factor that just bolsters all his achievements. Even when he fails, he wins.

so the Silly Alchemist is exactly this to a T.
The MC is a fucking goofy ass Mfker, really just cracked in the head and even almost childlike. Like, he's part genius, part dumbass. An idiot savant, if you will. Thing is, he's only one luck son of a bitch. He could be gambling and DELIBERATELY TRYING TO LOSE yet somehow he ends up owning you, your house, your wife, AND your kingdom.
He's a fuck-up. Hell, he spent time with like some assassin group or something and completely didn't notice it at all. I'm not sure if he EVER knew or even cared. But he is a very LUCKY fuck-up.

I don't know if you are into 40k, but Ciaphas Cain books might be what you are looking for. My man just tries to save his ass from all sort of maniacs and dangers trying to kill him, while constantly getting promoted, and getting praised as a hero for things he didn't do, and finding himself in even worse situations because of that.

I'm actually a Cultivation Big Shot. It's a CN though. The comedy is good, almost gold if not for it being repetitive.

It's not that he doesn't do the things he is praised for, just not always with the intention or in the way that would befit his title as HERO OF THE IMPERIUM (which you left out).
It just so happens that his attempts to stay alive tend to also contribute majorly to the overall war.

If the medium isn't that relevant, you could also look into streams or videos of TT-RPGs, as buffooning their way through the world with great success is a staple of that.
There are also some webcomics that take screencaps from existing shows and retell the story as a TT-RPG, usually with the premise that the setting in question doesn't exist in the world the players live in. They sometimes have aspects of this, though it's not usually a big focus.
