So, I decided to try and learn Swiss German for my work because I can sell more stuff if I don't ask the client to repeat themselves, or to switch to the Germany way of speaking German. The thing is, I have searched and searched, but only found some videos on YouTube, a podcast on Spotify, and a flashcard app. But there has to be something like Duolingo and Babbel for Swiss German, right? I mean, Switzerland has about 8M native speakers, and people move to there all the time. What with the economy being so strong and all. (I know about the Pimsleur course, but those did not work for me before, so I don't want to give it a chance.) No life courses, please. I don't have time for them.

So, is there something like the Paul Noble German courses for Swiss German? I am ready to pay. For now, I guess I can work with all of the YouTube courses and Spotify podcasts I found, but I need something that is more structured. Because some of my clients have told me before to speak to them in Swiss German with them, and that they don't understand me.

I can't do that because I can just understand some of the dialects and nothing more. I want to be good at my job, things are going good now, and ever since I started doing just tech support I have started getting nicer clients. But I don't want for things to be good, I want for them to be great! To be a pro! (I think I got addicted to my job, but that is nothing new for me XD)

I wouldn't be much helpful here, but nowadays there are many AI based language learning applications, like you can kind of converse with them, maybe you should check out one of them?

Anyway, good luck and may things work out greatly for you. :blob_cookie: :meowsip:

It is a spoken language with differences between valleys and villages as they standard German in written.

So your only option is to switch on TV and watch SRF.

Theres only one way to learn swiss of i know of. Learning by doing. It is not german and if you rely too much on it youll always go back to it. Speak with swiss people in swiss. If theres a word you dont understand ask. Try to use words you hear others say. Switzerland is too divided between the different cantons, so even tho the language is more than far enought apart from german, since we have too many dialects and cant decide on a single one to represent us, we cant officially declare it a language.
