Hello everyone.

Lately, I've been busier than ever so I don't spend as much time on the site as I used to and I can hardly find time to continue writing my novel.

Also continuing with this I am trying to write a new arc, the one of the typical school year, so I need ideas of the typical stereotypes of students that always exist, like for example the typical group in the back that is always having a party.

So I would like more ideas of what to write. The story is mainly comedy although I also hope to put in some moments of drama.

So I would like to know what are good stereotypes or the type of student that is never missing from a class?
Which ones do you think are must-haves?

Thank you very much for your help.

Stuck-up, suck-up, all A’s, but when you get to know them they have a lot of insecurities and weaknesses. controlling parents. Fear of not being able to please said parents.

I guess it depends on the type of high school. In an American one, you'd generally see...

The overachievers who exclusively talk about their advanced trig classes and the seventeen extracurriculars they're taking

The slacker who always shows up a few minutes late and squabbles with the teacher

The bored people who are always sleeping or using their phone under the table, the teacher loves to catch them off-guard with questions

The Gamer™ who's either trying to talk to you about a video game you don't play or sneaking a handheld console into class

The artist who's always doodling in the margins of their notebook

The athletic/cheerleader types

The cliquey/preppy girls who sit in a pack and are always talking about something

The kid with long, unwashed black hair and a trenchcoat who everyone expects will snap some day

The "funny" guy who is rarely funny

The band or theater kids who are way too into their extracurricular of choice and make it their whole personality

And so on

If you're feeling really adventurous, you can put multiple stereotypes into one person. Have a dumb looking big muscled jock? Make him the over achieving smart kid because he feels that other people always judge him to be the intellectual equivalent of a cro-magnon.

Delinquents, queen bees and their big crowd of followers/friends, otaku/geeks/gamers, the shy wall flowers, class representatives, maybe club activities (drama, sports, newspaper, radio/broadcasting, literature, etc.), etc.

My one friend is a born and raised Russian who's in all the advanced classes(IB program n such) but he's buff af and a cool ass guy to hang with, even for a loner weeb like me. He's also a business and stock freak, cause he loves money. He'd pretty much be an ikemen if he didn't have as much acne as he does, but even that can't hide how handsome he is and I know he's laid with at least a few girls.

the black kid
Or if you're in the inner-city the white kid

I don't know if it's a stereotype because I was homeschooled but in church I was probably the only guy who most people looked at as being big scary and quiet with a mean looking face but I also somehow made friends with all of the "weird" kids as well as being friendly with at least one or 2 of every other stereotype because once they got to know me they learned I was a pretty nice dude

Except the girls they all were scared of me even after they got to know me:blob_teary:

The gamblers. Dudes who know how to calculate the odds but also enjoys challenging chaos theory. You can ask them to help you out, but there is always a price. Heads he does it for free, tails he does it for a boon. Stuff like that.

The supersmart half-ass. They get straight As without trying, and they never try. They hate themselves, but are arrogant anyway. They hate their teachers, but their teachers like them. They hate their parents, but their parents don't notice. They hate all the other students, but receive those students' respect for how freely they express their contempt, and for their defiant confidence. They often get into trouble but the adults are overly lenient because of their grades. They are unpredictable but cunning. While they rarely have goals, and care even less about social currency, they are ruthless in obtaining anything they might fleetingly desire. Any bullies who try to target them will find themselves the focus of insidious revenge served on a platter of cold icy hatred. They make good protagonists for dark, revenge, or redemption type stories. They also make good villains against naïve protagonists, or guardians for useless protagonists.

The class clown,

The one that wants to be funny,

The guy sleeping through most of the lesson but still gets good to top grades,

The landwhale that thinks s/he's hot shit,

The wallflower and her friends,

The "sports group" of jocks etc,

The "Nerd group" trying to stay away from/buttering up to the jocks,

The unremarkable one that's in every group, but not part of any,

Would be the ones I noticed.
