This Monotone Puppet is looking for the peculiar, innovative tips that are rarely asked for. The ones you are nervous to share or the ones that are just freakin' funny! The stranger the better! Whether they are specific to a genre or not, what are some of the weirder things that you have done that you have found helpful with any aspect of writing?
For me, I have found that emulating (not going all the way, but at least modeling the action) the actions in graphic gore scenes that the main character is taking to be very helpful with psychological and horror. Biting flesh, using a knife, strangling oneself, poking yourself in the eye, etc. have all been useful in helping me put myself in my MC's shoes. You don't have to go very far with any action either. Just starting to do it can be enough to give you the words to describe graphic scenes and infuse them with action!
I have also found that certain poses help channel the insanity you might want for demented characters. Things like clutching your head, saying one word over and over; hugging yourself and shaking back and forth; frenetically scratching at your neck or arms; etc. Things like that.
So. What about you guys?

Why no, I have never done any of that.

Sometimes, you just have to ignore others who try to tell you how you should write your story.
I agree, though in my case, it's always. I always ignore people who tell me what they want me to write.

Write a story about a backflipping gopher and how he becomes a shell of his former self due to alcoholism.

I have access to my dad's phone/photos, which he uses to take pictures of his patients for surgery purposes. So, I can describe what the human body look like from the inside.

Unfortunately, I don't write graphic gore.

Write a 4k+ word chapter that's entirely 1 dialogue scene set in a single location.

Do it. Just do it.

Workshop ideas with others before actually starting to write, that way you have a basis to start with that has been approved by the audience you want to have. It also makes the problem of not knowing where to start when you first open up a word doc.

Delete your drafted chapter. The next one will be better.

Also, should I call a mental service?
Never! A mind manipulated by eldritch magic and memories induced of human consumption done in a detailed fashion shall see the light of day! MwahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
