Hi guys! I'm HypnoticNovels :blob_cookie:. I've been writing a story on here and recently, it's had a bit of success! While I love my readers and am happy people are enjoying it, the exposure seemed to have led to an unintended situation ?

Basically, every time I upload a chapter, it is reuploaded to some other sites by a random group. Although I have sent emails to them asking them to take it down, I have gotten no reply.

Has anyone else dealt with this? If so, how should I go about trying to handle their sins? :blob_paint: Thank you all for any advice!

Where is it being reposted?

If they have a comment function for stories, spam that shit. Every time they post one of your chapters, make a comment about how they're posting without your permission and stealing your story.

Post a bad review and explain how it's stolen work.

There's normally a copyright/DMCA team for these websites so you should email them to file a complaint.

Check if they are posting other stolen work. If they are, contact the original author and let them know as well.

You can hide white color text in your stories as a watermark that says the work is stolen.

Don't forget to do a little shameless advertising and link your real accounts.

And you probably didn't do it up until this point, but let your readers know your legit accounts so if they spot something they can let you know.

“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” ~ Oscar Wilde.

Just add footnotes inbetween paragraphs with something along the lines "If you want faster update with zero ads and support the original author, head on over to xxxx website to read"

It's a futile war to wage, unless this is making you a boatload of money and you've paid significant amount in its creation, if not it's not even worth the time and effort.

Your story get scraped by a bot. DMCA is da wey.

Just a bunch of websites (novelbin for example). I might need to try to white text idea :blob_okay: still, judging how they scrape away my author's notes, they might catch it too :c .Thank you!

I guess so :blob_teary: Still, this is only hobby for me, so I make $0 lol. I just didn't want others to make money off of copying and pasting my story. I might try the DMCA route and sprinklein these footnotes :p thank you!

Its that weird novel bin site right? Same thing happened to me. I keep looking into it and it seems like zero people read things there. As someone who cross posts to a few differnt sites i actually love the idea of someone posting my story for me so i dont have to think about it. But losing control of your OC is such a bitter feeling. Love your story btw.

File a DMCA and send an email to the site telling them about the aggregator. If they are the aggregator or do nothing then you can file a DMCA against them.

Just don't post the link here. The last thing you want to do is generate more traffic for them.

At least they kept your name on it. Send them a Cease and Desist letter first, I think, and then go the DMCA route is what I would do. Fortunately they don't seem to like my stuff enough to pirate it...

I keep a list, I'm aware of my story being copied to five other sites at this point. It's not worth bothering about, the sites run entirely on pirated content, they don't care about copyright claims.
