I'm about to restart one of my stories from the ground up with heavy revisions to plot/characters/lore etc. Effectively (literally), it'll be a draft two of the story that's hopefully better in every way.
My question is how I should go about that, as seen in the poll.
I'm already leaning third option and my mind likely won't be changed, but I am curious to see how other authors would handle a situation like this.

Hi! :blob_evil_two:
I did this, my current story is a revision of a previous story on a different website. I plan on keep that old version, and the original idea was to rewrite the first act then post the rest. My silly mind came up with other new ideas and I ended up rewriting the entire thing! :blobrofl:
I would advise you write the second version, but keep the original. Both have their fans, and to me the answer is to give the people what they want. Options are appreciated, but taking away the original will upset some fans. Better to keep both, after all that first draft represents how you began and the journey you've made to improve as a writer

Overwriting the original works when you have minor/small revisions.

Rewriting a story and keeping the original is good for proving that you worked on that story and as well as showing your old readers the changes. New readers, however, won't care about the old manuscript as they'll look at the new one as 'official'.

I'd prefer you just make a new one and not delete the old... who knows if someone out there really likes the style of your old story? If you delete it, ya might lose a fan

How many readers/followers did the original have? If more than a handful, post new and keep old up, with a link to the new one on each chapter in the notes. Otherwise, delete the old one after the new has been up for about a week.
