Some of the infinite hiatus writer types found in the wild:

Here are some types of infinite hiatus authors you can find on every writing site:
  • The author you can't give feedback to: These guys and gals enjoy writing, but if you ever give them feedback in a review or write a comment about a what-if situation or complain in the comment as some do, they are likely to scrap their entire story, disappointing anyone who was enjoying it, to make a few changes. They could have used the feedback in future work, edited their current work, or ignored the feedback entirely, but instead they'd rather disappoint their few fans to chase a dream about a perfect story that will seemingly never be finished because they have unrealistic goals; they can't understand that their story didn't need to be the best thing since sliced bread, it only needed to captivate readers. Be wary of authors who have a bunch of reworked, redux, 2nd version, reboot, rewrite, 7th attempt, etc.
  • The impulsive author: They have millions of ideas! Some good, some bad; nevertheless, these ideas end up as incomplete stories. You might click on their story to see 3 unfinished works in hiatus (or 30) and a brand new one they are working on. Each story needs more subplots, more characters, and more pizzazz, and when the idea doesn't fit the current story, they'll make another story to put those other ideas in.
  • The ambitious author: These authors want to profit more than they care about making art. Everyone needs to make a living; attempting a hustle is good, but no one who succeeded in life is abandoning their projects because their Patreon/SubscribeStar didn't get enough donations this month. A warning to these authors: the more stories you abandon, the less likely you'll get fans in future projects.
  • The author living in endless tragedy: These authors will write a story until life happens. Some of them got a job, some of them lost family, some of them lost a job, some of them feel under the weather, and some of them are experiencing true love again. No matter what they are going through, these authors will make it sound like their life has more going on than Edgar Allan Poe's or Kafka's life ever did. Nevertheless, they'll post something interesting, ask for a break so they can sort something out, and then disappear forever. Godspeed, lads.
  • The author that died: This one is pretty self-explanatory. May he or she rest in peace.
Feel free to add other types I missed, or if you're an author, feel free to tell us which one of these you are at risk of becoming (I'd totally be the impulsive author; I have 9 unfinished story ideas that I won't post until they are complete, which is probably never, LOL).

Don't forget The author that keeps rewriting the same story over and over(The story gets better but the audience fizzles) and The bitter author(Hates any and all interactions because they feel shame about their hiatus and take it out on others)

I'm more or less in the tragedy segment, but I'm only going to stop when I'm dead...
Actually, take that back, I'll keep writing even after I'm dead, but y'all will have to follow me to read it.

I used to be the tragedy type too. But now I am finally close to the dream of actually completing my novel. :blobtaco:

I'm the fifth one, and it happened when I went into my room, and fucking died suddenly without warning after an appointment with my therapist. I walked into my room with my food, sat the food down, and suddenly, my vision went red, I could feel my brain burning like a stroke, and I could also feel my organs systematically shutting off. It was very scary, and a very traumatic experience.

I woke up ten minutes in the past, with my food sitting on top of me while I was laying in bed covered up, when I should have been laying dead on my front, still on the bed.

Forgot the Whimsical Author where they do whatever the fuck they want and upload whenever they feel like uploading. Almost the same as tragedy, but literally no tragedy stopping them from doing so.

Literally just me

Hey, if you are still uploading then you are not an infinite hiatus author, you are still a higher life form.

I'm definitely the author living in endless tragedy, but I'm trying to be more of an impulsive author. I used to be the author you can't give feedback to, but thank God I grew out of that one!
