Lots of high selling manga/LN didn't get the adaptation it deserves, and they destroyed their only chances in anime industry, despite it's great premise and plot stories.

Most of them can only become animated advertisements for their books/manga.

And forget anime adaptation, even manga adaptation, or even the simplest scrolling comic adaptation is kinda ugly compared to the Writing format.

There's just too many good potential and high quality stuff having extremely bad adaptation that it manage to destroy the reputation of the story.

So just wait, ignore, and lower your expectations.

It's better to be surprised by shows that surpasses your expectations that to be disapointed by your high expectations.

From my reading experience, Solo Levelling stood out not for its writing but for it's fight scenes, the novelty of its "dungeon system", and establishing the "lone guy against the world" troupe in your common Manhwa.

Of course, it still had competent characters and pacing, but the downside is that if the strength of your source material relies heavily on visuals, you BETTER have a high budget and a veteran studio behind it.

Maybe I am the weird one here. I liked the tower of god anime... the opening scene + music was really good. I read the first light novel though and wasn't super impressed by it. Compared to other korean light novels that one is rather simple.

I tried out Solo Leveling, but just couldn't get into it myself. The first arc with the spider creature thing had so many plot holes that I couldn't just ignore it. Yeah, lets wake the sleeping spider to feed it so it can go back to sleep. Genius! Not to mention the presentation of the story is just way too edgy for my liking. It's not even funny edgy. Its edge that thinks its being something beyond edgy.

I might watch the anime to see if it fixes my issues with the story, but if not, I won't be that intrigued.

I don't remember Tower of God having a light novel. Personally, I thought the anime adaptation was fine, but it missed a lot of marks in the story telling and characterization department. Not to mention it made some interesting changes to the source that would really hurt it depending on what the Webnovels doing.

If you're on the fence about it, I can at least say the second season of the webnovel is really freaking good. The final arc is one of my favorite arcs in all of fiction too, only being beaten out by One Piece's Dressrosa and Wano arcs. The third season is really shaky though. Bordering on almost stupid at times and making some interesting decisions in storytelling that I don't think work.

As a whole, ToG is pretty good, though it takes some time for it to hit its stride, and it seems to be stumbling right now.

I know it is Tower of God. I'm confused about what treatment you said it got?

They did 70+ chapters in like 12 episodes. A lot of content was cut or sped through, leaving the experience being rather dull. It had great artstyle and animation, but thats all it had going for it. At least it wasn't treated like God of Highschool.

Sorry, meant solo leveling light novel. Yen Press just started localizing it and it got some popularity so I checked it out. The first time I saw tower of god was the anime.
