So, as a new author, I wanted to know from all of you authors over here. For example, you release a shorter chapter than usual before, like getting to an important part in the series
do you release the next chapter quicker than or do you wait for the same amount of time, like 1 chapter per week

and also whats your usual posting schedule? How many chapters per week do you all post
And do you keep a word limit for all your chapters, or do you go till the point that you feel satisfied (like me)

🤣 I hate those "look it up" answers.

Here's the deal. Everyone here will tell you that you're supposed to post two chapters a week, and that each chapter shouldn't be more than 1500 words.

I have no idea if that works and I don't give a crap. My stuff is 3000-5500 words and if it takes three weeks to rewrite it ten times before I'm happy with the quality, then that's what I'll do. I refuse to chase likes or bow down to the Almighty algorithm.

And you know what? I have a fair number of loyal readers all over the world.

Optimally, 3 chapters minimum. Length is up to you, but at least 1k words. Nobody likes reading a 500w chapter. As for me, I update once a week or twice when I feel inspired.

I update daily at a minimum of 2000 words, usually 2500. sometimes twice a day at 4000-6000. But I am retired, so that is a BAD guide for most people when it comes to updating.

Stick to your normal updates, write your chapter for as long as you think it should be. IMO, if you are less than 1500, you should add more, maybe another character's perspective elsewhere, but something that either advances your story or enriches it without overly fluffing it.

Post what you want when you want. That's what I live by.
Others probably stick to a schedule if they're trying to grind numbers or get enough traction to get peeps on patreon, etc.
Sticking to the golden standard of like 1.5k - 2k words a chapter.

But y'know what? It's all circumstance. Everything depends on what you're tryin to do. If need thousands of words for a chapter to work for you, then do it. If not, then don't. :blob_melt:

For instance, I update my zombie survival diary story whenever the fuck I feel like. Maybe it's once a week, maybe it's every day, etc. All chapters are between at least 400-1000 words. People still enjoy it as much as I do. Size doesn't matter. :blob_wink:

If you are not trying to monetize your work then it doesn't matter. Post at a steady pace that you can constantly accomplish.
