Basically, I looked at the top novels of Scribblehub to see if Smut was that popular and... It wasn't nearly as popular as stuff like Action/Adventure.

Smuthub is just a myth. I dunno why people keep parroting it.

Because no one denies it. There is a small number of people who tell everyone smut and GL is the only popular genres here and newbies believe it.

It's kinda annoying tbh. It's just painting a wrong image of the site for basically no benefit.

I can kinda get the idea that some people said in this thread about how it is a problem of perception because seeing 1 single smut novel on the homepage regularly can be a lot more remarkable to people that never see smut on other websites than seeing the other 9 non-smut novels, but...

It still ends up being a plain lie that just hurts the site's perception. It just annoys me.

It WAS an inside joke back in 2020-2021. But seeing how most of us stopped joking about it, while that group keeps writing it in the same manner, I really doubt they are joking. Moreover there was a bunch of threads and discussions that proved it's not true. Do you think that group stopped saying SH is smuthub? No, they didn't.

I think the fault is completely on them for not fact checking which is simple, but I could be wrong. At the least you could argue that the jokes aren't funny and are overplayed. I suck at speech, so I am probably not making the point I want to.

That is the best way to convince people, ya know? I suck at writing, but here are 5 ways to make your prose better.

The exact values isn't that important to illustrate the point I tried to make, which is that even at a low percent you're still basically guaranteed to see it.
( also I just realized A5 should be marked as "chance of seeing at least one smut novel")

So you're saying smut is so uncommon in most places that seeing it all makes some people think 'wow this place is smutty'.
