Dude... sorry, I don't want to get out of my comfort zone. I'm not your subject. Lol :meowsip:
Like I said...It's not really compulsory for you to write for a competition and the rules are generally
The MAIN GENRE to be used...then THE STORY MUST BE TAGGED...and a SPECIFIC WORDS LIMIT CRITERIA must be fulfilled

Then what is the winning criteria? Views, readers? Established writers will have a head start with their following. Just like the last competition.

Yes. Like I mentioned earlier, those winners won because of timing.

I don't want it to be viewers like the last time
It would be better to have a voting based one
It is kinda done in a phase
First people submit...till the criterias are fulfilled then judges decide the pick the best ones
then community votes which leadds to a top 10 or whatever kinda list

And reviewers are the judges?

what about for the competition a new account is created and those who want to participate would have to send their novels to the account to let them post it? This could solve the already established popularity problem...

We could maybe use the favorites heart thing on each chapter to determine which novel is good for voting too.

Remind me what the process is; for clarity.
First...Community agrees to competition(cause is not doing it)
Then we approach staff Zinless or someone else
Then staff speaks to other staffs
Competition is now in mind...Then People start looking for sponsors
We get sponsor and decide the terms and conditions for competition..
Competition is now decided...Then advertised
People get interested and start tagging either their old work or write new work
People who fulfill the criteria are considered by judges
Then just make a list
Community votes their favourite on the list
The works and authors are ranked and the prizes are distributed

? I don't understand.
I'm saying is we can't prevent all the loop holes in the first-time of making the competition after so-many years
We will have to make changes with each competition andsuh things will be reduced

So far, that feels like it is built on vibes.

First, define the contest. Then we can present a clear proposal and gauge the interest with a poll and see who signs up.

Next up is establishing a clear concept of the contest. We can work on the format, then figure out the timelines. If we can get that far, then the judging structure can be discussed. As for the prizes? Exposure has been the biggest wishlist for everybody here. Maybe if Tony can be contacted, the winner gets their winning novel placed in the sidebar at Novel Updates since that place would be getting more traffic now. But Tony is busy, that means we still have to negotiate on who is responsible for what.

What that means now for us is that there needs to be a designated organizer, and somebody willing to be a clear financial handler too. Let's not forget writing a breakdown on how these prizes are obtained and there absolutely must be a contingency plan involved in this.

Now when negotiating, it must be transparent what is being sponsored and everything that is gonna receive exposure from this contest. I wouldn't serve a penny before knowing what I'm supposedly funding, so that's why I wouldn't expect more from another person. And they need a level of authority over this too; giving control to someone who is financing this is common courtesy.

Speaking of control, the reviewers who are judging might need to remain anonymous for the purpose of keeping things fair. Whenever we have a submission window, those reviewers have a period of time to vote, but we haven't even decided when the announcement date of this contest happens. There is a lot to be considered here.

Like... shit, what's the word count limit? Are new novels the only ones permitted or can old ones join in? Actually, is one entry per writer going to be the cap or is this gonna be a free for all? And on the topic of chaos, what about content restrictions and what counts as disqualifications?

Really, there is a lot here to mull over in our heads before we go grabbing someone and telling them that this is happening.

Let me clear the word count limit thing
Some winning contestants get their work made into a WEBCOMIC or MANGA you can say ( If we get that Kind of Sponsor)
For that there is a word limit so that the content is promising and long enough
Usually 50,000 words is a minimum
and readers Identity is always anonymous(managed by the sponsor)
voters are also anonymous in the final voting

Maybe this could help people realize their potential?
I once participated in a writing competition that was advertised in this forum. The prizes offered were free art/cover art from a selection of three artists, where the first place winner can choose which artist to take, the second chooses after, and the third gets the last artist. There were quite a few participants who joined aiming for that prize alone, and I would say it's a pretty good prize offering.

As for a chance for their story to be made into a manga or webtoon, that's too far-fetched, I believe. Even Honeyfeed needed major sponsors to hold an event like that like KADOKAWA and MAL. Having that as a prize would definitely be very enticing for writers, though, even more than free art, but I don't know if Scribble Hub could snatch a sponsor like them so easily.
