Should I continue writing?

This is a question I'm sure alot of new authors ask themselves. For me personally, I write to distract myself of worldly affairs. I love to daydream and sometimes those dreams get confined in me and weigh me down. So I write to get those thoughts out. This isn't my first time writing at all. But posting it, is. If I don't include those cringey fanfics I used to post many moons ago.

Now I do understand writing stuff is completely up to me. No one else should make that decision for me. SO the real question should be is it worth it to continue writing and posting, based on my writing style. Is it intriguing or complex enough that people take the time off their days to read it?

The story I'm currently posting as of now (only 3 chapters are up) probably isn't something majority would read. Specially for this website where I have no clue what the leading genres even are. So if someone is even reading this thread I want you to judge my writing style and how easy it is to understand what I'm trying to convey rather than the actual story. And if you are interested in the story and it seems a bit boring right now, it does get a bit dangerous in the end. At least in my head it does.

Enjoy the 3 crumbs that I have served. Link : https://www.scribblehub.com/series/1792694/a-light-bulb-youre-a-prisoner-of-your-own-mind/

Well, I'm not sure whether I'm considered as a new author, but I had been writing the same book for almost 8 years as a hobby.

At the beginning of my journey I used to do that for fun. I watch animes, read mangas, and one day something just struck onto me out of the blue. Why not I create something myself?

But surprisingly, writing a story is so damn hard. I even lived in a delusion where I want my FL(Female Lead) to be like this this this so that it suits my tastes.

Book title, characters, world-building, structure, clarity, tones, pacing, grammars, and endless re-writes, proofreads and bottlenecks, and I was never satisfied. I was so unsatisfied that I even learnt how to do the illustrations myself (That said, lots of scammer artists came to me to say that they could do better work, but only to be met with disappointment) so that I could have a clear view for my imagination.

I used to have this ego, you know? Of wanting to publish my work everywhere.
Look at my work. I could assure you this is something you haven't seen before. A plot you could only clap your hands, a character you would fall in love into.

Yet reality was never like that. There are critics that you can't help but to rethink.
This isn't my genre. I don't like this. I don't understand. What are you trying to show? What are you writing? You are just copying this from another story, weren't you?

Not just critics, I also met many superficial review swappers that's trying to trick you into giving a five-star review.
This book is great! I love it! I would definitely recommend it to my friends! Your character is so cool!

I'm sure quite a lot of you met such people, that's why I would see a lot of genuine honest feedbacks. Honest reviews. Genuine feedbacks.

You know you sucked, yet you are receiving praises that you don't deserve. You don't even know what's good, what's bad. I also met some people who just hate you and trash talk about your book.
Absolute dogshit harem and the plot is so trash.
...Something like that. Even though it's not even a harem.

But I never gave up because I've spent so much time into it. I developed a parent-like feeling when I looked at my characters.

Now I just silently write a few paragraphs each day, refining my story into something readable.

Now I do understand writing stuff is completely up to me. No one else should make that decision for me. SO the real question should be is it worth it to continue writing and posting, based on my writing style. Is it intriguing or complex enough that people take the time off their days to read it?
Now then, yes, writing is completely up to you.

So here's the question: What are you writing for? What is your purpose to write? Is it because it was a hobby?

But hey, if you are writing for yourself, this means you don't care, right? Why not just write it on a piece offline word document and put it aside, forever hidden inside your drive? Why bother to pop up here and ask?

Because you wanted someone to look at you. You care. You need something to engage to so that you wouldn't feel so fatigue and exasperated.

Thank you so much for the response. I've seen many of your replies on other "feedback" threads. And I'm delighted to get one myself.
I read the whole thing 3 times just to be able to gather all my thoughts in one place.

I am a bit slower than others. And that is a challenge I face while writing. As I said I write the thoughts confined in my mind but I can never get my writing to truly reflect what's on my mind. I categorize it as a super power, being able to convey exactly what you're imagining. So I can relate a bit on writing the same thing till it's perfect. Till it's exactly what I want it to be.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to reach that perfection.

And that is why I asked if I should continue to write. I am definitely not writing just as a hobby. I want to be seen and read. As I mentioned it's not my first time writing rather it is, posting. So is my writing worthy enough to be read by other people. Or rather is my writing reflecting even a bit of what I want to convey? Just keeping the words to myself will not help me reach that conclusion.

The story I'm posting as of now might be too short to judge that. I am still writing( another story) but this story is quite short as a whole. That's why after I finish posting this one I want to know if I should continue to post. ( Ps: Sorry if there's any mistakes in my thread as I'm still getting familiar with the website)

You are not asking the right question in the thread. The question is: "Can I stop writing, or am I committed to this story?"
At that time the question expressed truly what I felt. But I can understand your questions as well.
All I can say is don't give up.

Even if you write just for you, you are putting your heart into it, and if you put your heart into it, then it is good for you. I would hate it if I stopped doing something that is good for me.
Thank you so much. I have decided I will continue. It might take a long time to gather all my words in a way I want them to be and they might not reflect exactly what I want them to but I won't stop. These thread replies have helped me immensely.

Your story is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for here.

I'm a natural fish out of water and am not into dragons, vampires and zombies. I'm looking for sci-fi, mysteries, psychological drama, adventure, but never anything too farfetched to be minimally credible. (I dig the hero's journey. I don't dig the hero talking to a dragon).

When the story is finished, I promise to write a whole essay as feedback.

Go on writing. You have a reader.

Does it bring you joy?

If so, don't stop. Joy is a precious thing and to be hoarded as best you can.

If it hurts you, if it makes you suffer, if it doesn't bring meaning to your life — then stop.

Same as anything, really.

I'm on the verge of shedding tears of joy. Thank you very much. I'll try my best to keep your interest to the story.

Writing makes me feel lighter, I would never stop writing. Even if I stop posting.

If you enjoy writing, write what's on your mind. If you're tired, take a break or take a vacation. And you can continue writing anytime.
