Remember in the first Space Jam where, though it's creatively bankrupt and a plot that's as nonexistent as black matter, at least Micheal Jordon got a character arc that's meaningful in some way.

>Jordan has fallen out of love with basketball, has retired to play baseball
>the Looney Tunes come to him for help because they're hopelessly outclassed by the Monstars
>Michael agrees to help
>in doing so, he rediscovers his passion for basketball
>he saves the day
>story ends with him unretiring and returning to the NBA

This is, in all honesty, not all that bad of a character arc. It's not exactly high art, but it does its job. Plus, it's a kid's show, forefront and everything. The jokes were made to suit children and the characters genuinely learn wholesome shit throughout, despite being absolutely decked half the time but c'mon, it's WB we're talking about here.

But with this new movie on the way, I'm afraid bros. Cause' one look at it and you can kinda guess what sort of route it's taking. I'm talking about the Ghostbusters 2016 route.

Geared to the "nerd-culture" demographic that does nothing but point at popular old stuff and say "I KNOW THIS I KNOW THIS"; full of bad adult jokes covered in terrible slangs and toned down to hit that 13+ rating; no respect to the original film whatsoever; zany """modern""" humour-- you get the idea.

Thing is, Space Jam never needed a sequel, just as how Ghostbusters never needed a remake, or how Toy Story 3 never needed a continuation. It was a fun relic of the past where we can look at and have fun watching. It's supposed to be this time capsule where we watch with the boys going haha at the obvious 90s cliché and stuff.

idk man maybe they're actually bringing in good talent that understand why people loved Space Jam in the first place and actually construct a good plot with original themes. Maybe, just maybe, they can pull this off as well as Blade Runner 2049 did to the og Blade Runner.

But as of now, speaking pessimistically, they'd just do as much as having bad redesigns of the Looney Toons gang, have LeBron taking selfies with Conan O'Brien in a cameo and reference Twitter ten times every hour or so.

It might not need a sequel but that doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be bad. It's not like the original space jam is a high bar to clear anyway. But hey, I thought Ghostbusters 2016 was a good, fun movie so maybe I just don't have high standards :P

I'm more concerned about how much political BULLSHIT they are going to cram into it by the truckload. That seems to be what EVERY movie coming out nowadays, at least in America, is constantly doing. So, I'm just curious how much of a dumpster fire it will be, and what political agendas will be enforced during the creation of said dumpster fire.

It's being made in Hollywood, or at least somewhere in California. OF COURSE their will be politics. And I already know which side it will represent and which it will not.

I'm tire of remakes in general as well. They're unnecessary except that Hollywood is creatively bankrupt. If they're so worried about dealing with unknowns why not cart truckloads of money to Foreign directors with a rep. but who haven't done many films yet? That way there's less risk and you're not going to piss off fans with remakes that are completely abominations or godawful gimmicks.
I mean "Fright Night" didn't need to be remade, "Dawn Of the Dead" didn't. "Robocop" didn't, so many they shouldn't have done.

The only reason they're doing a "Space Jam" sequel is to try a forced passing of the crown from Jordan to LeBron. Sorry I will NEVER recognize Lebron at the same level as Jordan esp. given that Jordan also went through the NCAA system and then dominated for long after.

Sad thing is, I might have actually accepted Kobe as the next in line to Jordan. Or allow them to be interchangeable. To me, Lebron hasn't earned that place yet. He's getting full of himself. He's an amazing player. Legendary. But there are many legends and he's not exactly unique in that category.

This is likely to be 3D animation not 2D right?

The fuck are they going to do about Lola Bunny lmao. She was designed as the sex appeal character in the original, I can't imagine that will translate very well to 3d.

They are probably going to make her not hot. but man, it just won't be spacejam without the furry bait that is lola ??

Nah, they'll probably find a reason to not add Lola, or remove her sex appeal altogether since twitter can't shut the hell up when something female is openly attractive in American media. Just sends them spiralling into violent foaming-at-the-mouth temper tantrums. And for some reason, hollywood seems to bow to these people so most other movie companies elsewhere do to.

They probably will sadly, but at least they can't stop the giga tsunami of fan art that will follow ?
