This is, in all honesty, not all that bad of a character arc. It's not exactly high art, but it does its job. Plus, it's a kid's show, forefront and everything. The jokes were made to suit children and the characters genuinely learn wholesome shit throughout, despite being absolutely decked half the time but c'mon, it's WB we're talking about here.
But with this new movie on the way, I'm afraid bros. Cause' one look at it and you can kinda guess what sort of route it's taking. I'm talking about the Ghostbusters 2016 route.
Geared to the "nerd-culture" demographic that does nothing but point at popular old stuff and say "I KNOW THIS I KNOW THIS"; full of bad adult jokes covered in terrible slangs and toned down to hit that 13+ rating; no respect to the original film whatsoever; zany """modern""" humour-- you get the idea.
Thing is, Space Jam never needed a sequel, just as how Ghostbusters never needed a remake, or how Toy Story 3 never needed a continuation. It was a fun relic of the past where we can look at and have fun watching. It's supposed to be this time capsule where we watch with the boys going haha at the obvious 90s cliché and stuff.
idk man maybe they're actually bringing in good talent that understand why people loved Space Jam in the first place and actually construct a good plot with original themes. Maybe, just maybe, they can pull this off as well as Blade Runner 2049 did to the og Blade Runner.
But as of now, speaking pessimistically, they'd just do as much as having bad redesigns of the Looney Toons gang, have LeBron taking selfies with Conan O'Brien in a cameo and reference Twitter ten times every hour or so.
