What advice would you like to give? Any advice, be it advice about life, about writing, or about how to cook borscht correctly. Maybe it's something that everyone needs to hear, maybe it's something that you wanted to hear in the past, maybe... I'm out of ideas. But you can be sure that your comrade will hear you out! ... tommorow... It's four in the morning in Russia.

I will share with you one piece of wisdom with you all!

Don't abuse alcohol. Do not smoke. I'm telling you this as a Russian flying ball of fingers who hasn't been smoking for a year now. If you want to quit, I advise you to do it gradually; if you quit smoking or drinking abruptly, your body will begin to freak out.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to respond to this thread, I'm going to bed. But I'm going to read all of it in about ten hours!

Oh, and happy birthday to me! A year without smoking and a birthday on the same day, I feel great.

Happy birthday!

A piece of wisdom, life is full of ups and downs. Even when you are at your lowest there is something you can learn. Don't ever completely give up.

Another piece of wisdom that is sort of related, but you can learn something from anyone. I try to keep an open mind to all sorts of people. You never know their experiences. Even if they are the ones that cut you off in traffic, your worst enemy, you can still learn from them.

Learning about something in school is less important than learning how to learn, how to find solutions without being taught is a skill that will last you a lifetime. And from that, never be afraid to examine why you believe what you believe, and how you know what you know.

When you need change don’t count on luck, but also don’t count on planning on how you will enact that change. All you can do to best guarantee that change is to act yourself.

It can take anywhere from 3 weeks to 6 months to develop a habit.

It only takes 3 days to break one.

Consistency and discipline is key to growth in anything and everything you do. So if you enjoy something, want to do better at something, or if you want to form some routine in general (like going to the gym, drawing, etc.), you have to put in the effort at the beginning. Then, once the ball is rolling- you need to commit to keeping it moving or you'll lose it very, very quickly.

If someone in your family is dying, go to them immediately, don't do anything else -- they may well go into a coma before their death & you'll lose your chance for goodbye. Happened with my grandfather.

For those who are planning on having children, watch "The Business of Being Born" with your partner or the person who will be supporting you as you give birth.

Hospitals get more money from a C-section, so they'll do nasty things like pump you full of Pitocin without paying attention to if you actually need it or not. Some people do need it, but it's important to listen to your body (refuse epidural and opt for more temporary pain relief methods if you need a break from the pain) because the doctors and nurses aren't going to listen to your body for you. Pitocin makes contractions stronger, and stronger contractions are more painful. I agreed to a low dose of Pitocin, but the nurses raised the dose behind my back, literally. this would have happened to me if I had an epidural:

Live in the moment. It'll be such a shame to get lost in your own head when there are many beauties and glorious fuckeries to appreciate in life.

All of those slogans like "follow your heart" and "be your own person" are stupid lies

The heart will and does lie to you so too will your mind learn how to spot those lies and how to kill them before they take root

We are all a product of others and their actions and behaviors
others also will be a product of our own actions and behaviors
So don't be "your own person" be the person you would want in your life

And another from a actual psychologist

Completely empty your mind when lying down to sleep. If you have stuff whizzing about in your head right before sleep, no matter what it may be, it will follow you along. You will likely not even realize anything is wrong, you won't need to be dreaming about it either, but it can still affect your sleep quality quite badly. So if you are someone with bad sleep quality and leading a life that leaves a lot to think about, try it, just might be of some help to you...
