Setting up a Ko-fi account

Is it a good site? i mean ofc it is everyone uses it but i mean. Are there any common issues with it? i have been considering taking donations, cigarettes and alcohol ain't cheap

I would recommend patreon and because everyone has been using it and it is known. But there's no harm in using both.

Just get a Patreon, like everyone else.

It's more popular, so it's easier for most people who have donated to lots of other projects.

You might set-up KoFi afterwards to give chance for those "non-most people" to donate

I'd suggest patreon first, because it's my experience that more people have one, so more people may donate.

But there are people who only get a Ko-Fi, the site doesn't get as much of your money as Patreon and I find it's easier to get single donations there.

I think Ko-Fi is better than Patreon, but Patreon has more users, so I'd suggest setting up both sites, pushing for Ko-Fi, but offering patreon as an alternative option.

Didn't have any problems with it yet, in both my accounts, but I don't have a lot of supporters in any of them.

Kofi is better in a way, as it doesn't take any commotions. In fact the donations transfer immediately to your paypal acount... But this also exposes it!

Use both... setting a page is very easy anyway.

Yeah, it exposes it. Gives out your paypal account information on the receipt every donor receives, including your real first and last name. Whether or not that's an issue for you, that's for each individual person to decide. In the days of insane online stalkers though, it can pose an issue for some people. Definitely don't use it if your stories contain anything controversial.

(BTW: On the scale of 1 to 10 on the controversial scale that will get you insane people beating down your door, politics is an 8 and shipping bate is a 10. So, definitely don't use Kofi if your story contains shipping bait.)

Monetizing your Fanfictions is illegal in most cases.

I just looked at your patreon, you have no options to give money, maybe thats why.

Ai-chan used to have patreon, like 3 years ago. Nobody gave Ai-chan any money, so Ai-chan just let it expire. But even back then, only ko fi got Ai-chan some donation.
