Imagine a typical 23 yo dude who could've just sat in his home doing nothing because he had enough money from his mother. But, because his personality and upbringing, he couldn't do that. He went to university, got degree in IT, managed to get employed, only for him to burn out because of the vivid nightmares he had every night he slept.

They weren't nightmares per se, more like lucid dreaming where he could do everything besides to change the environment. They were popping up after he graduated the high school. He always fought strange beings, always in black, which he called them "shadow beings" using his imagination, "dream powers". The mileage always varied. Either he died, killed them, or wandered long enough to nowhere until he woke up in his bed. Either way, it really hurt his looks and productivity.

So, after suffering from it for four years, he had enough of everything. He quit his office job, moved out out of his ancestral home to Osaka, and, given his experience with cars, got employed in the transportation industry. He was now a truck driver, which suited his sleeping schedule pretty much fine.

His nightmares worsened after that. He was now pestered by the same shadow being for a long time, and for that he trained his imagination to be more effective against him. His powers evolved, as he now knew more what he could and couldn't do. But it wasn't enough against that Commander, as he now called it.

A year later, after he was know employee at that corporation, he was given a promotion. "Special Inventory Delivery Department", they said, and it was pretty much the same job, only confidential and higher paying one. He accepted it, not knowing why and why him. More money meant he could do more stuff for himself.

What he didn't know, that he was special. This world is supernatural, and he didn't have special vision to see it properly. His lucid dream abilities seeped through the reality, causing unparalleled terror upon the vampire he accidentally met few nights ago. His high school friends has supernatural powers, his mom runs the supernatural organization, and even his kendo master wasn't ordinary old man.

Night before the new job in that department, he finally beat that shadow being, and absorbed inside of him. Next day, nothing will be ordinary for everyone, besides him.

And that's how Ichiro became the Newly Awakened Outer God Who Works As A Truck Driver.

Read my webnovel.

I'd like to use a quote from one of the characters!
"Everything that woman says, everything she does, the way she carries herself..." Shao Luli waved her fists in irritation. "There's just this provocative air about her! I can't stand it. You just want to take her down a notch the moment you see her. You know what I'm talking about, right, master? Of course you do, we both fell victim to it the moment we laid eyes upon her. I don't know if she does this on purpose, but no matter where she goes, trouble will always find her like flies will find honey. And she welcomes it! As long as we stay with her, we'll always be in danger!"

Leora is a 21-year-old girl interested in gardening, plants, and medicinal properties. She's a bit emotional and disregulated, and while that affects her relationships and decisions at times (whoops, I said the thing because I was angry), she is strong-willed, determined, and extremely caring and loving. She's loyal to her family and town, but unafraid to do what must be done to protect the people she loves.

When her middle brother returns home not only injured, but changed from a creature of the darkness within the divide (a terrifying realm that holds all the magic of their once elemental, united kingdoms), she must learn to grow mentally and physically to help her brother however she can - while also discovering her own ties to a prophecy to save their continents.

She dives into an epic adventure of self-discovery and growth, learning to trust in herself and those around her while slowly becoming a badass magical warrior throughout her journey. She builds close relationships that fuel her drive and growth, and finds an unlikely love interest who shares her peculiar path.

Strange creatures, visions and voices from the dark, world travel, action-packed scenes, and the possibility of just a *little* smut (or maybe a lot, I haven't decided yet) make Leora's story one that I not only enjoy writing, but enjoy sharing!

I only have six chapters up right now, so it's an easy binge. It's also intended more as a traditional novel and not a webnovel, but i wanted to join a few sites just to brave showing people my writing. I've just braved showing my coworkers, who all read similar stories to mine, and am trying to branch out more and take more chances. Give it a read if you're willing! :blob_hug:

I have two MC's in my story.

One is a Princess from my story that has a magical bloodline which grants her insane strength while also giving her royal family a proclivity for going mad.

The other commits a staggering amount of white-collar crime for a medieval fantasy setting.

A cultivator dies during his divine tribulation and ends up on modern Earth. The problem? Earth has no power source. No qi, no mana, nothing. The human body is ordinary too. No immortal techniques work, no sword intent, no soul power. Oh, and he's also super uneducated since he only cultivated since he was a child.

So, what's a cultivator, who's used to solving problems with his sword, going to do in a world that speaks another language and has different rules?

How is a person who used to live for thousands of years and go into seclusion for hundreds of years going to react when he finds out that every day stretches, and he only has a measly lifespan?

Edit: Shit, I said to much about the story and less about the mc...

I have sever al MCs but my current most written MC is a former liberal arts student thrown into a fantasy world as the heros twin sister, where she tries to be optimistic despite slowly but constantly loosing parts of her memory.

She tries to live according to the believe of. -I'd rather die myself then a shadow of myself- and somehow to find a way to not only survive but also find the memories she has already lost.

(In particular her pasts lifes families faces.)

Other then that she is petite, has long black blue hair she keeps pinned up with hairpins. Loves a good fight (is not a fan of killing though) collects hair acessories, is a chocolate addict and hates high heels with passion.
I can see this being an interesting character to follow.
Alunya's a naturally talented sorcerer who happens to live in a place that has existed in peace for so long that any semblance of power is intrinsically viewed as a threat! But more importantly, he's very much enveloped in a hostile culture which shapes him in a contradictory way. As the story goes on he becomes more and more repulsed by those around him but rather than becoming cynical or jaded, he becomes increasingly self-assured and confident in his own supremacy. All in all, he was written to help me practice writing characters that can be fun, cute, and energetic, while still having a particular sense of grandiosity and seriousness when it matters, since those were traits I previously struggled to combine. I think that it works pretty well personally.

He starts out cute and innocent, but when he loses his innocence he doesn't just grow up but fights to stay who he is and keep his playful, vibrant spark. The world around him becomes increasingly alien, but he still finds joy and things to love in it. And even when those he loves become threats to his innocence, he holds onto them. He's not delusional, he doesn't hide from reality; he tries his best to understand it, but rejects what he won't live with. He can be tempted to act reckless but he has enough rationality to not just jump off the deep end when he's not ready. There aren't any limits to how far he will go to live in the world he wants to, and he will not accept being degraded nor corrupted.

He wants to learn and expand, to gain a better understanding of the world and the things in it, and not only to learn about them but be able to shape, create, and change them. That drive foments a kind of ambition in him that doesn't necessarily need a specific end goal, save the desire to keep becoming more and shape the world around him. He loves to make things himself, to see the fruits of his labors in reality, and that is more important to him than any kind of luxury or comfort. Becoming better, wiser, smarter, more creative, more vibrant, are all ends in and of themselves as far as Alunya is concerned.

Oh, and also, he's a little brother. Alunya loves his big brother!

I swear to god I actually tear up re-reading the last currently written part of the story with Alunya and his brother Antares.
This gives a lot of depth
Slightly autistic internet board user stands for something pure and will use his degenerate knowledge to fight for it.
Interesting
Damned artist. Maniacally chasing passion in every tiny detail, and just as dementedly demanding perfection from their craft. :blob_melt::blob_melt::blob_melt:

This is mundane of a character that it sounds too realistic, like a real person who I would watch... and then the plot hits with exact opposite.
I'd like to use a quote from one of the characters!

I want to gush for a moment about Nivi, the protagonist of my new side-story.

She’s not hero material. She’s not a chosen one. She’s a reincarnated teenager from Earth—carrying fragments of knowledge from our world, but no real memories of who she was or what kind of life she lived. All she knows is that she was miserable in that life.

She doesn’t have a combat class. She’s only level 8. She hasn’t gained a single skill from level-ups yet.
All she wants is to reach level 10 and earn her first ability—just something, anything, that could give her a role to play in her new family.
She’s tired of being dead weight.

But Nivi has never been lucky. She was taken from her tribe. Experimented on. Altered. And tossed away as a failed supersoldier because she turned out too weak.

Then, she accidentally petrified her best friend in a panic. She didn't mean to—it happened during a spar, triggered by trauma from her abduction.

Now she’s exiled. Alone. No gear. No training. Just a dagger, a hatchet, and a rainforest full of predators that don’t care about her backstory.

But she has one thing going for her.

The experiment may have failed—but the fusion with the youkai spirit inside her succeeded. And now, as she fights to survive, she adapts.
She learns from the creatures she kills. She absorbs fragments of their essence.
And slowly… she changes. Becoming part beastkin, part the things she kills.
Not entirely herself. Not entirely anything else. And certainly not human anymore.

She’s not at the bottom of the food chain—but she’s close.
And the monsters above her? They're terrifying.

But the spirit inside her—the hyakume, the watcher—won’t let her give up.
So she keeps going; she fights, learns and adapts, even when she’s hurting, lost and disgusted with what she’s becoming.

Because she has to survive. She has to become something the world can’t ignore.

Matheus never really had a chance on his first life, being branded as "the king of losers" very early after an incident that got viral.

Even after dying and starting his second life in a LitRPG world, he couldn't escape his title.

And yet, he starts a journey to prove to himself he can be way more than that.

He may have self-esteem and trust issues, but his heart is in the right place.

A kind elven mage, forced to become powerful and cold in order to avenge everything that was taken by the god.

Eventually forced to burn most of the old world in crimson fire due to the influence of the divine.

The last of elf kind of her old world before being yanked into a brand new one at the dying breath of her tormentor.

Absolutely 0 trust in divine entities of any form, would mercilessly burn anything daring to obey divinity by their own will.

But more than anything, she is very lonely and missing her kin despite not realising it.

Charlotte Silvi, who was born with the duty of protecting the world, which she made it a side quest. The best thing about her is that she have a very high sense of self-awareness, leading to including but not limited to, abusing the heck out of her power, do whatever she want because very few people can restrain her. And war crimes, though mostly instigating war crimes as of current arc.

Due to her position, she's prideful, narcisstic, sociopathic, but her love for mankind is unconditional, wanting nothing but the best for humanity, albeit a bit twisted, through something she calls the Utopic Dystopia. And she's a human supremacist.

You would think it would be hard to write an enjoyable story with her, but surprisingly no, readers actually like someone who is unquestionably evil but make people say "Wait, let her cook"

In the third half of the story, she launched a website named Argent Alexandria, which is just wikileaks+big brother on steroids, it also have a nice feature where the entirety of humanity can vote whether someone is innocent or not, resulting mostly in the guilty losing all of their money and assets.
Then she instigated WWIII with the annihilation of China, and Hitler (yes, that Hitler) somehow, returned.
A few famine here and there, civil unrest due to 24/7 doxxing.

Everything is pretty awful with her in charge, but for Charlotte it is all necessary for a better future. The keyword is Future. She sacrificed the present for the future, one she might not even get to witness.

That's what beautiful about my MC, she knows the things she did cannot be justified, asking "why should the people of the present care about a future they will never see?", but she still did it.

That's why she crowned herself the monarch of humanity, because the ruler bears the sins of the people and look forward to the future. Walking her path with pride, without the hope that anyone would understand what she did. All for the imperfect paradise of tomorrow.

=0=0=

Or as I realized a few months ago, Dr. Doom but 20% less prideful

I'm tired of the same old questions about selling your stories. Sell me on your main character! Tell me why I should care about your main character and what makes them stand out as an interesting person to read about.

Mordecai is an ancient being, and long ago he fucked up. And he knows it. There was justification for his rage and vengeance, but he went too far and was too careless about who else was going to get hurt. Because of that, a lot of innocents did get hurt and killed in the war he waged.

He accepted his imprisonment, even if his loyal allies did not agree. But circumstances have changed and centuries later, Mordecai is greatly weakened but he has a chance to make a new and better life. He can begin to make up for what he did, though it will never be enough. And the start of that path involves the two women whose circumstances are what led to his new lease on life.

This means not only being careful about his old bad decisions, but being careful about potential new ones, especially when it comes to Kazue. Fulfilling the roles of mentor and lover simultaneously is a delicate balance, and he needs to be sure that she becomes more fully herself rather than accidentally shaping her to follow the way he would do things.

If he screwed this up and hurt either of them, he'd find a way to free them of their bonds, and would ensure any backlash or price fell entirely on himself, no matter how severe. Mordecai might have a second chance at doing things better, but he was under no illusion that he deserved it. No, he was indebted to Moriko and Kazue for this, and that debt was not something the could be paid off. He had to become better than he'd ever been before. Maybe eventually, he'd be able to come a person who would have deserved this chance.

Moriko is a 36 year old half elf, and a martial disciple of the Goddess of Passions. Circumstances and politics (i.e. dislocating all the joints in an arm because a visiting minor noble assumed too much) made it best for her to take an extended vacation from the temple. The path she chooses to take when visiting family led her to encounter and help free this ancient being, and to then get entangled with both him and Kazue.

But romantically entangled was not something she had intended. Moriko is indeed a very passionate follower of her goddess, and has never been involved deeper than friends-with-benefits. She wasn't sure that she was ready to give that up, even for an immortal shape changer with experience and some interesting new tricks. But then there's sweet Kazue.

While Mordecai had made his preferences clear, he was worldly enough that he could deal with Moriko not being committed to him and Kazue despite the magical bonds connecting them. Kazue on the other hand, well, she was trying to be open minded as their circumstances were partly her fault, but it was clear that a committed relationship between the three of them would make her much happier.

Making the young woman unhappy was not a pleasant thought. And Moriko liked them both well enough. But to commit to never having a lover other than the two of them again? That was a difficult idea for her.

Kazue is a 20 year old kitsune shrine maiden, or rather, she was. But then she died.

An act of mercy gave her new life as a Spiritual Nexus, but then she was trapped in her small territory with only the rabbits she'd lured in to bond with her as companions. Kazue could deal with being alone, but this was being lonely. And she wasn't handling it great.

Then Moriko came along, causing Kazue to panic, and sending the woman down a shaft that seemed far too deep for Kazue's new powers to have created. When Moriko came back, she was carrying another soul with her. An older soul named Mordecai, an experienced Spiritual Nexus who was willing to guide and teach her. But he had no Core; if she wanted him to stay, she was going to have to let him make a home for his soul in her Core. Which would also entangle Kazue with Moriko, as that was how he was able to escape his former prison.

Oh no, she would be 'alone' with a disciple of the goddess of passion and a fellow nexus spirit whose avatar was tall and handsome... that was all it took for her mind to start recalling some of the more interesting romantic books she had read. Her head filled so easily with so many thoughts when she was supposed to be thinking about other things that it always made her freeze or run away.

Only these two saw through her in a way no one else seemed to have. And there was no where to run to.

Mordecai was gentle but straightforward: if the three of them made this connection, there was going to be enough intimacy and feedback that Kazue's feelings and desires would grow. So she needed to decide if she wanted to gamble on having a bond with the two of them that would become a relationship before she decided if she was willing to make her core and home also his core and home.

The tangle of her emotions and fanciful desires seemed impossible to unravel. But she found the key question for herself. Risk being lonely when these two continued their travels, and vulnerable to unknown future travelers? Or risk getting entangled in a relationship with two people she barely knew, however nice they seemed?

She chose to gamble on Mordecai and Moriko. It was scary, but scary could be exciting too, and loneliness was agonizing for her.

Then her wandering mind altered the ritual that was going to bind them, and the three of them found themselves tied a little more tightly than had been intended.

Kazue didn't exactly mind, even if she felt a little guilty about it.

I'll give you the first sentence of my story and you'll know

A small girl sprinted toward the waiting horse carriage. She leaped into the air, rolled into a somersault, and spun into a front flip before landing neatly on her feet. Her short white hair fluttered in the calm wind like drifting ash.

A woman who had once gleefully and unabashedly commit extra in her murder sprees slowly finding them unfulfilling. She's also known for getting to the target even if it means roughing up the hostages. However, she already build up a fame that is mostly working as a shield so people won't try messing with her.

Unfortunately when confronted with possibility that she must do the same if her adopted daughter was caught in the crossfire, she's left unsure if she can do it. The woman grow increasingly tired of killing but if she suddenly stop, those who have axe to grind with her will come out of the woodwork. If she shows a sliver of weakness, many who wish to use her can finally scheme through that small chink in her armor.

She's strong, she's influential, and she's never short on cash. Thought the nature of her work force her to travel far.

Ultimately.

She's just one woman incapable to be omnipresent when shits hit the fan.

My main character feels it is unfair that some people have super powers that he does not.

The government also favors he powerful.
The girl he loved would rather be part of a harem of a super powered man who only uses her for sex over being with him who would simp for her.

So he decides to change himself and his mindset into someone who doesn’t let others get to him, and to make the world more fair.

To do this, he decides to kill all the powerful.

Yeah, not the MC. Decent plot.

This is a really good base for your character in terms of interest.

Or as I realized a few months ago, Dr. Doom but 20% less prideful
This is very good
Mordecai is an ancient being, and long ago he fucked up.

From what you have said, these are all very interesting characters.
I'll give you the first sentence of my story and you'll know

A small girl sprinted toward the waiting horse carriage. She leaped into the air, rolled into a somersault, and spun into a front flip before landing neatly on her feet. Her short white hair fluttered in the calm wind like drifting ash.
Medieval Gymnast?

Interesting
My main character feels it is unfair that some people have super powers that he does not.

The government also favors he powerful.
The girl he loved would rather be part of a harem of a super powered man who only uses her for sex over being with him who would simp for her.

So he decides to change himself and his mindset into someone who doesn’t let others get to him, and to make the world more fair.

To do this, he decides to kill all the powerful.
okay. This can work.
One of my reader’s related my mc’s fighting style to yondu from the guardians of the galaxy movies. So if you liked those scenes you might like the action.
They're a ranged fighter. What else?
