Rare occurrence of an author being (somewhat) kind to a character

Funnily enough I went really far with my MC's past so she couldn't be considered in a single way as a Mary-Sue, even if she's one of the most OP character possible in a fiction.

My character blames themselves as well because she thought she distracted her father, but actually, it was just an accident and she was just a kid. She just wanted a reason for it to happen, and her vague memories helped her find one.

BTW I'm not a sadist.
I just think that after the deep lows, the highs are more appreciated, even when they aren't that high, you know?

Besides all the scrapped story ideas. Which none of them seem that interesting to mention right now.

My most recent scrapped idea was killing off the Mc's mum, brother and/or sister. The dad had already passes during the five years the mc went missing.

Issue was I couldn't decide who to kill. I basically planned four different ways the story could develop. Some of which were quite different from each other.

Ahhh yes, a classic. Crippling emotional damage to balance all the other stuff… wait is this why the world is so messed up? Humans were too OP, so they said let’s give them paranoia and anger issues?

It is perfectly normal to introduce suffering to your MC. It makes the highs have a bigger payoff.

What are some scrapped ideas that you didn't find a way or it just didn't fit in your novel?
I'll start.

When I was coming up with powers, I thought about using the seven capital sins as seven types of powers. It doesn't fit with the other powers I thought after, but one of them I'm really sad that I will not use it anymore.
The Lust sin, for example, comes from one of the user's fetish.

One of the main characters was a Lust and he had four tentacles on his back :)

So you know how Sumerian gods were the patrons of a city. Imagine a person is reincarnated as something similar. As for powers that gets into the metaphysics of all the stuff I write, but without the gobbledygook they would be the in charge of a concept on the city/world/plane depending on how much authority they had on said plane.

The original plan was for the mc to become the god of contracts and radiation. Got too op, so it became just contracts. City building + trickery. Roughly plotted out the first arc. Came up with a few characters. Then I got bored when trying to figure out the main plot/conflict and dropped the story idea.

I will probably repurpose it in the future, I just prefer writing mystery & horror over kingdom building stuff. Shorter series instead of a long complex ones, so it will probably be more of a setting than an actual independent story.
