Scholastic book in which a boy goes to a world of creatures with a swing. The world orbits around a naked singularity. In the end, he returns and finds his little sister to be much older than him.

The most I remember in specifics is that there was a dimensional water barrier thing in his basement. The swing was like a canoe and it was meant to get high enough for the gravity of the blackhole to catch him and drag him inside. Once inside, he was in a type of tunnel. It was a prophecy thing.

The creatures were half turtles? I think. I remember the grandma or aunt being a cunt.

The little sister was in her thirties when he returned and had a kid. Who he talked to briefly and then promised to comeback. She and her husband I think had died shortly before he arrived. Car accident? The aunt/grandma was the one who was jaded and told him what had happened. after mentioning his lack of aging.

I remember that I had actually bought this book with my own money. Problem is that I just looked through all my old boxes of stuff to clear and make room and didn't find it at all. Did find my copy of Frog and Toad from when I was one years old.

I think what you're looking for is Marco's Millions. I did a little web search and found it to be pretty similar to what you're describing here!
The cover art matches with what I remember. Thank you.
