Royal Road?

The best part of Royal Road is that it has a very strict approval system. Stories there are often original, not illegally posted or plagiatized from another site. I like this because a certain someone (or was it a bot?) once posted my story without permission in their site. If you already posted your story somewhere else like in SH and want to post it there, you have to prove you are the true author of the story.

Would you mind telling a bit more about it?
I've been there for six months now, and aside from the ongoing duck thing I really cannot say anything bad about the community. And, I certainly don't get the 'gatekeeping' part

There's a big difference between the reading community and the writing community. The writers, who frequent the forums, are fairly nice and helpful to each other. As for the readers, I'm sure there's a silent majority. But there's a minority who like to 0.5 star stories for the most minor of reasons.

I think the "gatekeeping" comes in because ratings/reviews matter in surfacing the stories. So unpolished stories typically get slammed, which really discourages new writers. Plus, I know LBGTQ+ stories get drive-by ratings bombs.

isnt that a fanfiction site? im not familiar with this one
