The thing is, as I said, since I started getting bad ratings, they have always come in pairs. It started with one bad rating. Some time later came a 4 or 5 star rating, shortly after came another 2 or 2,5. And now it's literally together (or in the span of hours, so I don't see it over night). It's weird in the sense of being piled like this. But when you feel strongly enough to give a story 2 or 2,5 stars, doesn't that mean you really don't like it and felt like others should know? But somehow, nothing comes with it and that's the point that boggles me so much.
I mean, the reason I'm saying that isn't that I want people do dog on my story. I have two reviews that have had nothing to complain about, one of them had actually quite a bit to say. I was thankful for both of them. But if there's something that could objectively be better, I would like to understand in order to get better.
I mean, that's what my rant was about. But it was a rant, so I don't know if it was coherent enough to get the point. LoL

You know, readers aren't robots. Sometimes it is simply they had a shitty day and are taking it out on you. Gotta remember they are all people and will get upset for any reason.

Exactly! I mean, it might be an ego thing with the 5 stars, because it mostly means they liked it and had nothing bad to say, but I would still love to know what they liked the most or what they thought of certain events or characters and choices. The 2 star is more important though, because at that point, you SHOULD know what to say, because you actively dislike it, so there should be a reason. And I'm over here like: but what was it? And was it something that could be done better? That I can or could improve on? Sucks.

But an additional fact is that it started slowly with the simultaneous ratings of good and bad, but now it's so close to one another, my paranoia is kicking like crazy. Just KNOWING you are paranoid and it's in your head doesn't make it go away. Which makes everything more complicated. I'm basically over here doing the "It's a coincidence" Mantra.

Depends on how good you are doing on RR. Someone here told that RR has "gangs" that would downvote novels.

Explanation is easy. RR is where they earn money, so they will gladly keep newcomers away. If I'm not mistaken RR visibility relies heavily on your rating. If you have low rating, you won't get as much views, and won't compete with "big bois".
