I'm looking to set up some review swaps here on the forum.
My offer is simple: I will read and provide a review for your story, and in return, I ask that you read and review one of mine.
I guarantee that I will complete my review for your story, offering thoughtful and constructive feedback.
Please note: This guaranteed swap is specifically for stories that have fewer than 50 chapters. Reviewing longer works requires a significant time commitment, and I want to ensure I can provide a timely review for those I swap with. Thank you for your understanding regarding this chapter limit.
If you are interested in swapping reviews under these terms, please reply to this post with a link to your story and its current chapter count.
(....................................................I truly dont want to do this villain job but it seems im the only one that can/will.)
Zenomew. Please......Stop doing threads asking for review swaps.
Its like your 8th (here 9th) thread you create asking for "review swap". (used the search function)
Compared to spa....well not really spamming.....compared to creating so many of them, please focus more on your story OR go read more of what makes stuff popular/works.
Writing is like drawing or game making.
By looking at more art, and discovering new artstyles, looking at what is season trendy (like golden bikinis in golden week in jp or seasonal waifus), and smut baiting, the artist can get more popular. And outputting a lot = good way to attract people.
Game making, its by playing videogames themselves that indies are successful. Compared to AAA that only greed for money and not gamers.
Anyway Zenomew go focus more on yourself (by relaxing and finding inspiration by reading) compared to finding helpers.
PS : I have no clue how many chapters your series got, but people only come when there are like 50+
and reviews will flood in at that time. -----------------(2nd post)-----------------------
Little tired bc threadmill so will make it short
1) Your chapter titles really need to have like a denomitation Chapter1: Chapter2:
Its kinda my personal petpeeve, not sure for others, but not having that its kinda ...... frustrating.
1.5) Its not that im asking to do a 50words chapter titles but usually its helpful its more descriptive or interesting
2) VERY IMPORTANT Why the heck do you have like 10 series with only 10+ chapters ? Are you always dropping them because of no readers or reviews or what??????!!!!
Sorry to say this but : Im not sure if you are naive, or stupid, or having a misunderstood view of readership and/or not understand how is internet is 2025.
Nowadays in 2025. People have ton of possibilities to occupy themselves. Or like me go read MTL to chinese novels.
The reason you DONT GET a lot of viewers/reviews.
is indeed (like you said in a previous thread) because not lot of chapters.
BUT
you are MISSING A MORE IMPORTANT POINT
is that readers. LOT OF THEM are veteran readers and not some 6y/o kid that first read his first webnovel.
And one thing that a veteran reader knows. Is that OFTEN a series will be axed/dropped. ESPECIALLY ON SH (even some masterpieces are axed).
You are basically self-destructing yourself by axing your own series before it even take off.
BECAUSE READERS only start to truly come when chapter count arrive to 50+
because in their brains : Oh this series got 50+chapters, that means its likely wont be axed/dropped.
unlike : Oh this series got 4chapters its interesting but i will wait. Maybe it will be dropped by author. And even if i read now there is not enough to read so i will stockpile-wait.
tldr : You are basically self-detonating yourself. Like creating self-crafted plane, that is your story because it even took off the RUNWAY.
SO ITS now wonder that there is no usual spectators for it as they are here for the flying take-off or flying planes. NOT to see the crafting and taxiway of planes ! (especially if they are accustomed to see planes not takeoff)
----------------- @Zenomew (2nd post fusioned with first one)
Very important knowledge.
tldr: stop axing your series and focus on one and make it bigger.

Hey I left a review, thanks for the intro in to that genre. I hope it's helpful anyway. It was hard for me since I'd literally never read your primary genre before! Is there a genre type you like or really hate? I have an expansive universe and would love a review on one of my stories, either a standalone or one of the ongoing ones. If you let me know your tastes (and are you 18+?) perhaps I can provide the story I'd like reviewed?

Ok, my main project that I’d prefer feedback on is Cameron to Candy. Its a gender-bender satire where a guy is magically reassigned into a submissive wife role in a hyper-regulated kingdom. It’s about identity, resistance, and adaptation. There’s 18 chapters, feel free to only read a few, unless it hooks you and you want to stay for more ;) But fair warning, the setting is bdsm kink-coded satire with strict obedience laws. If that’s too much for you, here are a few short story stand alone options with various different vibes:
When a magical accident transforms Cameron, a free-thinking, sharp-tongued man, into a woman in the eyes of the patriarchal kingdom of Paddlewick, he doesn’t just lose his body. He loses his rights, his name, and his place in society. Now legally classified as female and forcibly renamed...

The Peach of Petalik: a sweet but odd, neurodivergent girl finds a suitor,a neurotypical man, and their relationship explores questions of ethics, parents fears, consent and capability in a rigid society not set up to support neurodivergence. I personally think it’s touching, so far, others have not but no comments have been left so hard to say.
Swipe Left on Love: A medieval magic dating app used in Therian society leads one cow-girl on a series of dates, each somehow worse than the last. Dating can get weird in a city of human-animal hybrids. Comedic fantasy style story.
The Rise of Sir Melon: A cursed slightly anthropomorphic watermelon gets knighted, and embarks on a ridiculous quest for honor, a questionable legacy, and the world’s best cup of cocoa.Very silly, just meant for a laugh.
Like i said, its bc people are fed up, a lot, a giga lot, to see series being dropped.
Or to give examples, here is what a random lambda reader(s) will think when seeing little chapters numbers :
-oh 5? meh i will wait it get more
-oh ? Interesting idea ? NICE ! Only 5? urg. I will bookmark it and hope the author wont drop it
-oh ? This series is interesting. I just finished reading it. I wonder what other series this author ? WTF? Why the heck he/she keep dropping the series after just a few chapters ? Goddamnit, i guess i will drop this series as i bet he/she will also drop it too.
-Only 5 chapters ? Its not enough to make my mouth full. I better wait.
-Only 5 chapters ? I am a reader that love to bing a lot at once. I will wait it stockpile.
-5chapters ? Keh i bet the series will be dropped like other writers that give up soon
Meanwhile 50 chapters ?
-Oh nice ! A LOT TO READ !
-The idea is meh, but as it has 50 chapters, that means the author probably wont give it up, so i will give a try
-Oh nice, this series i bookmarked got so many chapters ! Time to read it ! I am happy the author didnt drop it early on ! (like the dozens bookmarked series that did)
-Fuck wtf with this series that kept popping in "new updates" ? I will give a try to see what is in it
-50 chapters ? Hm why not try it, im bored and got free time, i will bing read it as a try
-50 chapters ? I guess the author seems to care about it. Maybe i will give it a try
-50 chapters ? Gosh i guess the author is a pro, and not a random writer-starter
-Oh wow 50 chapters AND they have a bunch of finished series with 200chapters ? Nice~~~ (IF: even if they are dropped series, the huge chap number show the author has exp in writing or won experience doing them/became better author)
(Bonus)
To be precise why 50?
Lets say that we can only blame our animal brain for that.
50 = Half of 100 = Half = A lot
100 = big
50 = A lot
2-3etc = a few, not enough, want moar
50 = pretty number
50 = very round number, very cubic, very balanced (thanos voice), satisfy OCD, wasnt there a 50km/h saying or tv show?, 5 is a pretty number of form that looks like a solid building, 50 is clean-looking unlike 51 or 49, 50 seems like a limit or a plateau
50 chapters is a quite decent quantity of words/chapters to read
20 is quite filling but 50 is like a buffet. A child dream of eating full but still having more remaining.
Basically a 20 is "nice->awwww". And 50 is "booooooyah !"

Game dev dont need to be pro gamers but to at least enjoy games and enjoy their own products trying other people products.
Being writer is same thing. They should love doing it, know the trends, know the audience, BEING part of the audience, and try other people books. A lot preferably. The more the better.

Check what is trendy currently (like golden week bikini or seasonal waifu or memes). Have lot of works. And No one will give a f to an artist having only 2 gorgeous art. But having 50, its like having a big panel saying : IM A PRO. And it works. Every. Single. Time.

which show the total lack of understanding of their target audience. And unprofessionalism......well maybe this word is too much. A "lack of self-reflection" is more fitting.
Ofc not to say that SH is hardcore competion and unfriendly to newbies nor me trying to gatekeep.
But basic common sense like checking competition like "are there lot of xianxias in this website? did someone try this idea before?"
or what is popular (oh wow yuri/futa/smut seems popular maybe me doing yaoi wouldnt be good idea HENCE low views) shouldnt be needed to be said. And that is what makes me speechless bc this "common sense" seems not present to lot of authors.

That's interesting. Thank you for elaborating. I see the logic. I'm a bit surprised still though, even given the smaller chapters, that people would need that many chapters to be interested. Like a good story can't wrap up sooner? Can't be a decent one off? I have noticed some of the most popular writing just have a ton of chapters. Others seem to just call the next book like Book 2: next title, and some just go on forever without any real separation. I guess its a style now on the ladder. But that's very good to know! Great tips!
Sorry, just one thing though if I may, hate to say it as you were generous enough to take your time to answer my questions... but you said "satisfy OCD". I actually have a diagnosis of obsessive compulsive disorder. For whatever its worth, we OCD'ers don't love it when our disorder is used as a culture buzz phrase. It's, well, it's offensive. Most people do it. You didn't invent it. Not attacking you for it. But, just putting it out there. Anyway, thanks again for your time and guidance!

Well, not using as culture buzz phrase, but i am saying it bc im also mild OCD so i truly meant it. Well, more like begnin-OCD.
50 is like a flawless cube hence satisfy (my) OCD. Or a perfect half-filled wine glass.
And dont worry im not annoyed that you said it, as i can see how it can annoy others. Its kinda like this tiktok trend where this random kids post videos that seems flaunting of having certain mental troubles. (and people truly having it not liking that. Especially as the kids downplay how bad it is. Like this cringe video where a girl trying to catch the light. Or everyone flaunting having # like a badge of honor, when clearly they do not have it)

I guess its more of a cultural thing ? (not sure if correct word)
Everyone is accustomed to big series. 1 series did it, 2 series did it, 3 series did it, dozens did it etc. Then the readers became accustomed to seeing "big series".
Or maybe, its kinda eating cookies. No matter how delicious they are, just having 2 is disappointingly not enough. But if you get like 30. Then "hurray!" if you know what i mean.
-----
And no, its totally fine to "wrap up sooner". I saw a romance CN end in 27chapters before. Or a jp romance with just 1 chapter.
But they are like outliers.
Same as you can find CNs ending in 470chaps and not 1000 like most does.
Thing is, people became accustomed to this mainstream idea that series should have a decent number of chapters.
I guess you can say that its our monkey brain's fault to think : oh wow ## chapters. The MC must have done lot of cool stuffs OR grow a lot.
= must be enjoyable
Which is kinda partially true. (unless you are a crazy novel like INVISIBLE DRAGON where the MC bomb a country one second and the next)
Meanwhile if there are few chaps: "What the heck this fantasy series can do in just 5chapters? Its more like a oneshot. Did the MC find excalibur in just 3chapters and kill the dragon in 10? Meh, i wont bother to read it"
Same as a 400ish CN will make readers think : Oh he finished this series with only ### chapters ? I guess he rushed it or axed it. If author was talented enough or series was popular enough no way that he would end with only ### chapters.
Another thing to point out is that readers arent like doujin-readers.
They are here to read and stay for a longggggggggggggggggggggggggg time. To be precise, they want to "waste a lot of time(have fun)"
And not to have a "quickie". So having lot of chapters to "waste time(fun)" = better. They are here to enjoy a festival, not a one second firework.
But ofc, the readers arent dumb. Like in videogames, they can totally see if the author is insult their IQ and trying to add pointless fillers.
Btw not that im saying its 50 only. But that its a hidden automatic consensus.
20 chapters, is good enough. But thing is, you cant believe how many authors still dropped their series at 20-30. And ofc annoyed lot of people for it. So people began to have this mentality of "fool once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me"
But 50? Its like the author wear an invisible "good student" badge of honor that say "i wont drop it".
Like i said, its bc people are fed up, a lot, a giga lot, to see series being dropped.

I thought 20 was the "first magic number" (though my series that did well took off around 12).
I have one story with over sixty chapters WRITTEN but only 40-some posted here; another that just broke into the 40s that only has 11 here (should go to 12 tomorrow or Tuesday), one with 46 but only 42 posted here (the only one that's "done well" so far), and one with "two books" - the first complete at 23 chapters, the second at 11 of 12 posted. So haven't hit 50 with any yet...
