Reusing powers?

I mentioned in another thread that I'm making notes for a superhero litrpg. I'm having trouble deciding what power to give the main character, though. I want it to be something flashy and fun to read about, but not so OP that it destroys any sense of tension. The power I keep coming back to that I think would be perfect for him is personal gravity manipulation. IE, he can weaken gravity's pull on him, and as long as there's a solid object nearby, he can change that to be his gravitational anchor. It's a really cool power that you can do some really creative things with. How do I know? Because that's the power the main character in one of my other books, Juryokine, had. I stopped working on that story way back in 2018, though. Do you think my readers (few as they are) would be put off if I gave that power to another main character in another, completely unrelated story?

Y'know, it's a coin toss. With superhero "quirks", any can work. Is it set a done? I mean the hero can't get upgrade or something, they'll get the power and that's it? Then something with high ceiling.

Also, there is probably marvel/dc hero with that power anyway, so wouldn't be afraid

They don't get new powers, but they can "level up" (not the term used in the story) to make their power stronger and unlock new abilities that stem from their base power set.

Is a cool power, but my limited imagination can only see it as a quick movement power and nothing much.

Just make the other mc use the power differently. For example, Kisuke Urahara (Bleach) and Gopal (Boboiboy) has the same power to restructure anything but the way they use their powers are different. Kisuke use it to make himself stronger and fix things while Gopal just turn things into foods.

Its not the power, but the strength. Lets say I can blow up peoples heads, but it takes ten minutes of intense staring. Strong power, difficult to use.

I'd go with a Hypercube that he has in his possession, but it's a hyper rubic's cube. When he plays with it, it changes his "direction" so he is always falling "down", but his person orientation dimensionally is twisted. So, he isn't changing gravity, it's just interacting with him from a new angle.

There is nothing wrong with reusing stories, I have, like, 6 different fire users in my story. I made a point saying there is a higher amount of fire user than any element

Reusing a unique power like personal gravity manipulation in a new, unrelated story could actually be a great idea! If you explore it differently or expand on its applications, it could feel fresh and exciting. Readers are usually more interested in how a power is used and integrated into the narrative than in its originality alone. Go for it!

Why don't you just make the power more unique by concentrrating only on 1 aspect of gravity or just it's interaction with other things. Everybody could have the same power with some small differences and different ways of usage and it wouldn't be a problem, that's basically a more handicapped litrpg system.

BTW, Gravity might not exist. What I mean is, the graviton has not been detected, no matter how hard we try. We have no managed to make one yet.

It is possible that gravity is an emergent property, not force. Imagine that you were impaled on a triangle. It would be easier to pull off than to push into the triangle. Now imagine that empty space was full of four dimentional hyper Tetrehedrons This is a single "pixel", but matter requires MANY pixels, depending on its mass. So they "bunch up", the more mass you have. As they bunch up, they overlap. There is always at least one "side" in contact with 3d space, but they start to "Stack" into the 4th dimension. It is easier to "slide down" in the direction they all face, not move "up".

This is why Gravity is the weakest "force" and doesn't make sense. It just doesn't fit any unified field theory.

When you have enough mass in one area, the Planck Sized Hyper Tetrehedrons can't get stacked anymore and are at 90 degrees to our reality, standing one Planck unit high. This is the speed of light. This is also a "black hole". Remember the faster you go, the more mass you have, because speed = kinetic energy and Energy = Mass.

Want to have fun with this? remember that Mass = Energy and Energy = Frequency. So all mass is a frequency, just a very slow one.
