Religious or spiritual interpretation of biological features and functions

Are there any well-known explanation of biological features and functions of human or other animals that were used by people to support religious and spiritual purposes?

Like I remember the intelligent designer belief but it was a more general one. I would like something more specific like the DMT's belief that it was a chemical that serves spiritual mean to let the body rests and the soul moves on. Do you know any believes or theories like those? I want those for inspiration.

Yeah. Most religious and spiritual people I know have no idea about these but those that are not religious and spiritual sometimes found a way to promote falsehood and ignorance through their limited intelligence and thought processes. Their ideas may be idiotic and beyond my understanding but that does not mean I can not use it for a character of mine.

Pretty hard to find. Most things I have heard boil down to the intelligent designer belief in the end. Some that might help that I can recall off the top of my head are grounding and runner’s high.

I've heard some and seen them once. It's usually Hinduism and Buddhism if it's related to animals. But, if you want a much more special case, I got some people that worship trees and respects wise people graveyards. Do tell if you're interested.
