My preference?

I don't like slice-of-life type of stories, and I do have other preferences as well, but I will not blame you if you want to suggest me something that I wouldn't like. I was vague for a reason.

I know it's cheeky, but I do recommend my series if you like character-driven, high stakes Epic Fantasy, with quests, military elements and ancient magic. It's a revised and polished story, and the book is complete and updated daily on this site: A Shattered Peace

I don't know your preference, but if you want a fiction where the author is an adult who put his mind on research, I suggest the "Valora is Calling" . It's too complex, though
