I meant these are what I'm trying to emulate, but I also suggest reading them. Really good works. Also, a manga series called "Siscon Ani to Brocon Imouto ga". Yes, I like incest and stepsibling brother-sister romances. You can call me weird, but don't criticize my favorite works without reading them.
Sagiri's cute. But those works are not exactly my genre.

I like little sisters in anime though. Kotori's probably my favorite.

My first question would always be: what kind of genre?
Entertaining horror writing is completely different from entertaining romance writing or entertaining historical writing...

That said, I don't try to emulate any because I'm not good enough for that... just feels unnatural and I get no work done.
Instead, I kinda try to find my own voice at least a little.

Bernard Cornwell in his WArlord Chronicles. I'd like to be able to copy his first-person writing ability and his ease with Historical Fiction, however if I wanted to write Alternate History fiction, definitely Harry Turtledove, typically called the Father of Alternate History in fiction.

Cornwell is a Master of his craft. I remember reading one of his books where the MC made it clear he is recounting the story while still alive in the future. And Cornwell somehow still manages to make one fear for that same character because the flow of his writing doesn't give you time to stop and analyze every scene...

I've read everything he's ever written short of the American revolutionary war series, and he's my main inspiration in writing. His Warlord Chronicles Trilogy is my favorite book series ever.

For contemporary authors, Kinoku Nasu and Patrick Rothfuss are exquisite, albeit excelling in different regards to prose and storytelling. As of late, I've taken a great liking to Kazuo Ishiguro who I find has delightful prose to read, albeit one that's not necessarily suited for the type of stories I want to write.
