Rant: Why Is Royal Road like this?

I've been reading at Royal Road for years, and in comparison to Scribblehub, it has become worse over the years.
Why is it always like this with the majority of royal road writers?
You check their profiles and their first novels are all very original ones, with unique main characters, plots, or premises, most of them with non-human main characters. Sometimes they're very popular and become classics everyone knows, but usually they dont have the highest popularity and end up being dropped after years of being updated.
Then, a few months later they start to spam generic novels with male human main characters in a litrpg apocalypse setting/tower thing with the most boring, generic, crappy story that you've already read several times.
Oh, and don't forget their titles, they're always soemething like "Thing" Ascension: A LITRPG Apocalypse or "RPG Class Name": Apocalypse Progression Fantasy", sometimes "Main Character Name: The "RPG Class Name".
Holy crap man, just kill me already!
Royal Road has devolved into pure insipid, tasteless slop producing factory, and its time to accept the truth.

I remember 10 years ago when RR was just a janky ass forum and literally anyone could get the number one novel just by posting everyday. If you think the quality is bad now, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Ah yes, the good ol' Royal Road. I still remember being diagnosed with ADHD after reading two chapters of a LitRPG on there, in which the mc yapped about how they needed to talk to some villagers and proceeded to explain that decision for 2000 words. Good time.?

But yeah, seriously, that's what you get when people encourage exclusivity. Of course, many would like to be popular and make money out of their works, and there's little to no money and popularity in being unique. Add to that the harsh and often nonsensical feedback, and you'll have Royal Road.

After all, everyone has their threshold of how much they can take bullshit from idiots.

Maybe it is because it is all about money and content creators...making more money. Very strange place...looked good at first but when you learn how they operate you flee. Paying a premium there is like throwing out money for almost no service and strange professionalism. I am back to Kindle Unlimited. At least, I know what I am getting and I feel safer using that service.

Thanks and really sorry about this. I am used to threads being archived after a certain time but just read the full rules. Found this thread by accident and didn't even look at the year...since I expected it to be archived after that.

There is the most direct connection between the two. You want to write GL, GB(gender bender), BL, or smut on RR. Before you can do it, you have to pass anal moderation. What if your story is, I don't remember the percentage, let's say 20% smut, BL, GL, or GB? If it is, you can't post your work there. Simple as.

You want to explore gender bender stuff? Welp, explore it somewhere else. You want to use sex scenes in a new way, and not as fanservice? Welp, use it somewhere else. Do you get what I mean here?

Huh.. my only story on RR is 100% trans, and I never had to fought any moderators to be there?
