So, I'm no stranger to getting low ratings on stories; it's a good way to learn, especially when people offer comments as to what they didn't like; honestly, it's one of the best ways to learn where you lose people or what you can improve!

But, I got hit by a drive-by 1* on one of my stories and went, 'damn, that sucks,' lol. But oh well, w/e, right?

Ofc I took a look to see who my recent readers were and didn't see anyone who left a low rating, so I chopped it up to trolling and carried on.

Well, aren't I looking through all the new stories to see a bunch of brand new and poor books getting dumped on by 1* ratings, it made me curious. So I took a peek, and, damn man, some of these stories only had 2 readers, one of which offered 5 stars, the other had no indication of the story in their reading list, yet the books got a 1 star and a 5-star rating.

Saw four stories that followed this trend with the same user in each one without the story in their list, and funny enough, I remembered the same user on my own story shortly after I noticed the rating drop.

Is this normal for SH? Crazy to think people are just going around dropping that stuff on random people... Dosent get much more mean-spirited for a place where everyone just likes to share their creativity.

Some platforms deliberately lack (or got rid of) downvoting features, because they get abused by trolls or brigades. One star reviews have similar abuse potential. For that reason, I'm not a fan of star based review systems. But what can you do. ?

Do you think there might be a motive behind these trolls / brigades? If there is a motive, then we could get to the bottom of if it and if possible, negotiate a solution, or well by the very least understand them.

Yeah earlier, someone gave me a one star but when this thread opened up they removed their rating.

Let's name the guy serial 1* rater.

And an infamous legend was born on scribblehub this day.

On a serious note, yup that guy is a menace, best to just ignore the guy.

Anybody know the id though?
