So, I wanted to ask for some advise.

I had a website. HAD> as in, in the past. Godaddy runs a scam where they hit you with high increases of renewal fees after your first year. Then I found out a few others do it too. I didn't want to be held hostage, so I signed up for Name cheap to transfer the domain and the data, and the web hosting to them. They had a better deal.

Well it turns out most the web hosting services have big problems. I don't want to go into the details too much since I don't want to be accused of bad mouthing anyone. BUT 'something bad happened' on the company end. And I don't have a website anymore despite paying the fees, and doing everything right. It was complete and fully running before they had 'something happen'.

This had me want to ask if there's a way to do or use a blog to set up your own stories for free or cheap on your own?

I want and will continue to use sites like this. I really like Scribble Hub. And you guys are genuinely nice. I like to help when I can with advise too. And also get advise sometimes. The people here have been nice. BUT I like to have a backup site going. And have a place to go where people can send me notes, or put up a free story every now and then.

I wonder if there's a way to do this with some blog sites? (And I'm kinda fed up with scamming web hosting BS...) (Also I'm not a programmer and can't program. So that could affect it.)

What do you think about this? And web hosting ... it doesn't really seem worth it. There's too many things that go wrong. This has me wondering about blogs? But if you had more than 1 story in the blog, would you still be able to easily find whatever chapter you are on as a reader easily?

I made a blog with Wordpress, and there's been no problems as of yet. Can't really figure out how to host stories though.

I used Wix for my site. I had the premium plan that let me use my own domain name until they jacked the price up last year. Now I use the free version, which is basically the same but I have to use the generic site address. It's also really easy to use, as evidenced by the fact that a caveman like me managed to make a semi-decent looking site with it. Check it out if you want:

Hi I fon't completely understand that way of 'owninng' a site but I would say to either make a site which I want to do and make it able to have both Stories and Mangas, art, I will say you can use Google Sites to make a Free site and I do really like having something line you said to fall back on and check in on incase something happened to Scribble Hub

In my case I use WordPress for free webhosting. Same as you, I created a place where I could post my old and new stories at the same time. Visitors could also read chapters in it, so it's a perfect place for alternative.

Huh, as someone that recently try o have personal website i find some static free page, like neocities, nekoweb, github page, cloudflare page. Probably doesnt meet your requirements though. Honestly this day if you want a website site builder is easier, something like wix or wordpress. If you want to really "own" it though, you can use wordpress on you web hosting, easier than building your own web

This reminds me of those fake movie production scams...

??Remember folks! If a company is offering a substantial amount of money for any reason, but then requires an initial "investment" up front, it's a hardcore scam, guaranteed.

You could use Cloudflare. They provide a no nonsense doman provider. Though there would be no promotional or discounted cost.
