There's an interesting hashtag that's trending on twitter that I think would be interesting for authors to see. It's basically authors listing the payment they received from publishers.

Yeah, I saw that one too and it kind of showed not everybody knows how this whole publishing thing works.

Being paid a high advance for a book these days is not a good thing. If you can't meet your sales numbers they come looking for that money.

Nothing worse than getting a fat advance for a story only to end up having to write a check back to your publisher because they decided not to give you a dollar's worth of advertisement because your presale numbers were shit. I'd be much more interested to know which publishers are sending their authors out on signing tours, writing contracts that are allowing their authors to retain intellectual property rights and supporting their authors with real advertising than who is giving authors big advances for novels that are going to end up in a dollar store because no one bought them.
