First, write a good series. It's true that there is some absolute slop out there that people will eat up. BUT, you don't have to write slop. Treat your readers like they have a modicum of intelligence.

Two, be consistent. Releasing a chapter every other month doesn't get any buzz. Releasing a chapter every day trips the algorithm into burying your story. I'm getting into the groove of releasing a chapter every week (with a very, very long lead time between finalizing and publishing.)

Three, mind your time zone. I can't remember the stats but there's a decent chunk of Americans and Europeans on this site. Schedule your chapter releases during times when those folks are active but not busy. I'm sure you can figure that one out.

I do zero promotion, but that is mainly because I'm not here for the fame of it. I do it for fun. Those who wish to read my story will find it. Those who enjoy it will join my journey.

As for timing- find your audience. Timezones are the key. Post when the individuals you want to read your book will be active. Note when high posting volume happens and try to post before or after, lest your own release get buried.

Lastly, be consistent. Put a time and day in your book description. Let your readers know when to expect a release. That way if they miss it, or if someone randomly finds your story, they know when to check in to view the next chapter.

If you're going on hiatus, make sure to notify our readers as well. They'll appreciate the heads up and won't be so upset if you miss a release.

Be well,

Times zones time zones time zones. No point posting when in another place it's 1 in the morning.

But I just write for fun mostly.

Do notify your readers if you take a break or something. As a reader, it's just better to know that the author is only taking a break, and not dropping the series.

Write two books at once, with a new chapter every 2 days, but alternate between books.
