I've been away from the writing scene for a bit, but I may be coming back. Was wondering about what to write. What do you readers want to see?

I write a lot of different genres and in different styles, but all under the main umbrella genre of fantasy. Hit me. Tell me your preferences.

I had this weird idea where travelling to nearby dimensions is easy, with some naturally formed portals appearing regularly, so in that fantasy world kingdoms wouldn't just expand geographically but also dimensionally. If that idea gets some of your creative juices running, go for it.

I'm not sure if you have any interest in fan fiction, but here we go.

There were many potential characters with scenarios going wild in every way.

For instances, a game cafe owner who's an alien and he makes games from our world available to be played by the chars of the MCU chars. How do they play? Well, as if their soul get sucked into the game of course! Although the universe is the same as the one from the movie - A tad gloomy atmosphere because the DC universe is also here - it's fine nonetheless. Ohoho, look at them all. Startled, shocked, fazed, terrified, infuriated. Heck, even Hawkeye needs to cooperate with Harley just so they can beat the dinosaurs in Ark: Survival.
(A Game Cafe In The Marvel Universe)

Being a gamer is one thing, but being a game dev is another whole level, plus the much easier game engine helps create the games. This was also in the MCU, but it was much more lighthearted and barely had any sad moments. Kinda repetitive, but still has its own fun. Uses the same formula as the first story (above this) when it comes to gamers gaming the game created by the game dev - Sucking their soul - with some uniqueness though. And when everyone knows your game and also plays it, what else to do? Well, open a portal to another universe and offer them games too! And also a little bit of tech on the way there. Oh, and umm, Pokemons too.
(Marvel: The Game Maker)

What happens when a theoretical physicist manages to beat a giant fetus and basically the entirety of the US army and Black Ops get transferred to an ultramodern city with angels and academies everywhere see-able by our mutual friend and get tasked to guide the students of said academies? There are troubles bound to happen soon, even though the physicist's journey has just started. It is only the beginning, but it's already chaotic.
(Resonance Entanglement | AO3)

Set in the same universe but with a different timeline like the theoretical physicist, a renowned assassin wakes up in the middle of a train. With only that much explained, there shouldn't be too much unordinary stuff, right? Oh no no, the assassin once had a dog, and the dog was killed. So, with a bazillion of bullets, armaments, and a pencil, he killed many who got in his way of vengeance. You'd know just how f**ked up the evildoers of the universe are going to be.
(A man like him... Is a teacher?! | AO3)

A timeline where the green-haired boy was alive before the existence of quirk. He studied in the school where quirk was found for the first time, but he was not there to witness it nor to live with it afterward. No.
He was stuck, hundreds of feet below the ground. How did he get stuck in a futuristic-ish facility deep under the sea level? He himself has forgotten how he got here, time flew by quickly.
He received augmentation with denial and grief. He was sustained and kept alive alone for more than a century or two after the event of an escapee gaining her freedom at last.
The name of the escapee? Chell.
He was alone, broken, and kept on getting tested. Chambers after chambers he went through.
But then, a group of heroes rescued him, and now he's under a duo's care. He wasn't a human anymore, no, he's not.
He's a subject.
(Take my brain, or what remains | AO3)

I would be eager to tell you more about fanfictions and its ideas but I might run out of space to type soon. So, how are these?

You know the saying place ten people in a room record what they say, and by the time they are let out they would have had at minimum 51 diffrent opinions? Plenty of versions of this saying floating around... insted of asking what readers want, ask what you feel like doing or what readers agree on not wanting.

There is a classic author saying. It's something about readers don't know what they want, and you have to prove to them your novel is something they want.

Psychological Thriller.

But is this even a serious question? Just check the Rising Stars category on RoyalRoad or Trending on ScribbleHub for repetitive tags. You don't even have to create anything new nowadays, just jump on the LitRPG bandwagon like the rest.

A few days ago, however, some girl got her space opera at #1 on Rising Stars on RR (which has been overshadowed by now), so there can be unique cases.

I like well-done transformation stories. Those that depict the transformation, keep track of the emotional state of the protagonist who isn't happy or completely accepting of that change. Then the story would focus on integrating in their former society. They would face challenges. Maybe have to hide, while tending to the needs of their new body. The most important part is that the non-human MC tag is not just a gimmick, but an important factor to be explored. It should never feel like you can write the species circumstances out of a situation.

Write about a duck who transcends duckity and enters duckhood.

Just about anything you write, people will read it. I guess just look at trending and see what genres those are, and go from there. My personal preference is high fantasy action.
