So yeah, it has been a year since I took my first awkward steps to Scribble Hub.

First-time writing was a mess. The thing I focused on back then was my grammar; so many basic mistakes were in just one chapter. Once I have somehow tackled the problem, I started to brush up on my writing skill. Back at that time, I held a strong belief that by good writing (which is the thing I can't do well just yet), readers will come and enjoy it. Just like some famous novels here.

That's the greatest motivation I can give myself to continue writing, even with criticisms and low ratings.

However, one day, when I was scrolling down and observing the 'Latest Updates' and 'Trending' parts, all I could see were not only famous novels with high effort but also lewd, lewd, and lewd.

I also thought that these so-called R18 novels are also high effort, with fancy vocabulary and wide grammar ranges and stuff like that.

But as soon as I picked up a story and read it, I realized...

About 70% of smut and ecchi novels here were written as trash, even worse than mine if I could say for myself. They are just getting so many freakin' readers from the horny community.

Ah yes, also the fanfictions from famous animations, such as One Punch Man, Naruto, and well, what's the latest? Yes, Spy x Family. Some with effort, but some of them were written without effort. One full-of-effort chapter came, then died down after a wave of ecchi (and fanfics) chapter updates. I could see that many good authors faced the same problem like this.

So, just use Scribble Hub as a practice hub if you are a beginner. Don't seek fame, unless you are outright talented (at writing fanfics) or you decided to join the horny.

For fanfiction authors, just use Archive Of Our Own.

Well, it's no secret that many readers are lonely people and only look for certain types of topics. It's the same as with robots, they are very appreciated and can do thousands of things, but when they sell robots for that kind of things they will be the number one top seller forever. It's an open secret, everyone knows it.

With fanfiction is different, there can be good stories, there can be bad ones, but they have something in common, they already had a community behind them.It is much easier for something to become famous if it is already known. The next fanfiction of My hero academy will be thousands of times more famous than my original novel for the simple fact that people already know its characters and more or less what to expect. I'm not saying that its quality is bad or worse, that's not what I'm arguing, just the fact that the readers already came before even the author.

The same because Boruto is more famous with any other new story that can launch its author.

People don't care about quality nowadays. Now just want stimulation to null the pain of their void lives. Entertainment has become anesthesia to cycles of work. Of cold cycles where you are just a cog, toiling for the growth of a cancer. A cancer that seeks to expand for the sake of expansion.

The lethargic state of mind which many endure is a grand predicament of modernity. It's truly a shame that we have reached this point of quote on quote progress. To have progressed to the point where you are so materially secure and dowsed into luxury that normal things just don't click. The only thing that makes the systems of these people go boom. Are things like inflation fetish.

So as someone who doesn't read fanfics and horny, I feel obligated to give my opinion on them.

First of, I hate AO3. The concept is great. Its existence is nice. The search system and tag system is garbage. I don't even try to look at AO3 unless an author mentions they have more chapters there. And its not just me and AO3. I know people here who don't use Dreame, RR, WN, Creative Novels, Campfire Blaze, Wattpad, and many more. The reasons vary but the fact that you miss readers by only posting on one or two sites is very true. Its especially important for those looking for more exposure for economical reasons.

As for people seeking fame with or without horny and fanfic; SH has a working tag and release system that allows me to avoid seeing novels with such tags in releases, so I don't really mind it. To put it differently, why should I waste my time thinking about or looking at that type of novel or novel writer when I have better things to do? Like hating myself for reading manhwa with FL's despite knowing they are all romance, and said romance will cause me to eventually hate it enough to drop it, leaving myself with a feeling of dissatisfaction.

I guess scribble hub having a nickname called smut hub has a reason or two. Or maybe even three or four or five yeah? The only reason that I only use scribble hub and nu is that their tagging system is a heavens blessing. There are also many hidden gems(many are dropped) loitering around this site and I'm on the run finding them.

@minacia wanted to make a separate subdomain for SH's R18 stories but when the world needed her the most, she disappeared.

Thanks for letting me know that quality is just a relative evaluation in life.

Web (light) novel readers are mostly genre-focused, reading only the genre they want. They're more forgiving when it comes to writing/grammar so long as it's their preferred genre. I'll just use myself as an example. A long time ago, I used to read tons of wuxia. That was several years ago when wuxiaworld was just starting out, migrating from some forum, when RoyalRoad was still translating LMS. I can't exactly recall the timelines, the point is, barely any English author write wuxia/xianxia, and there are barely any good English translators.

Machine translations of those Chinese novels fry a few brain cells with each chapter I read, but I still continue reading it because it's what I want. But if you present to me a normal book, I'd judge it with very high standards. I've gotten over my Chinese novel reading phase and I can't read those MTLs anymore.

This really doesn't need deep examination. It's like someone wants to eat American diner food for example and nothing else. They'd rather eat the worst kind of burger over the most high-quality sushi. This is applicable to different things in life and not just webnovels. People are just more forgiving with something they like. For example, the fans of an actor will usually defend him if he's arrested for a crime or something rather than condemn him.

"The horny" lol. Never seen it mentioned like that before. Well, Oni Rokura didn't do too bad. I got 250 followers and was gaining 1-2 a day (per upload) until I just stopped writing it. I should finish my fantasy space opera. It's got a bit of "the horny" but I wouldn't characterize it as being the main draw even a little. Will be interesting to see how it does on here.

And it's only going to get more cyberpunk as we "progress." I don't have a sim chip in my phone. I use it like a tablet, mainly for reading since I don't like the computer screen for that.
