I mean smut is only part of a story!Literally me five seconds ago:
Book #1: wow, nice cover! great title too! It's-
... its's smut.
#2: Sci-fi masquerading as magic world.
#3 Smut
#4 Smut
#5 Avengers X Dc Comics crossover smut.
#6 Boys Love
#6.5 Romance story/harem.
#7 Demon smut.
Hmm... how many of these have either male character in female body or the reverse? Might justify this kind of cover "bait and switch" (one of the stories I am working on has a male inhabiting the body of his alternate universe self and the second biggest difference between them in gender; more so I can explore the world from both "sides" than anything else, but also because I just fell in love with my opening paragraph, where the character notices all these changes and just decides he's happy his name is androgynous, and ran with it).I have that issue, but not with smut, with male mc's. I never tried to get an accurate number, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if two out of three books with women on the cover had a male mc. It's not that bad on Scribble, but it's so common on RoyalRoad in particular that I just stopped checking them at some point.
Dungeon Core is when the MC runs a dungeon. Dungeon Core specifically refers to the core of the dungeon, usually a person, demon, or some magical thing.Hmm... how many of these have either male character in female body or the reverse? Have never run into the term before - what exactly is "Dungeon Core"?
Ah - so one of the stories I am working on has a "reverse dungeon core" bit (that was supposed to be one chapter and so far has grown to four)...Dungeon Core is when the MC runs a dungeon. Dungeon Core specifically refers to the core of the dungeon, usually a person, demon, or some magical thing.
Royalroad doesn't have tags for gender bender or transgender characters so i can't be sure, but as far as I remember I've never read a single story like that on RR. The synopses didn't hint at anything either. I guess it's just a matter of what attracts more clicks.Hmm... how many of these have either male character in female body or the reverse?
