Hello. This may seem like a strange question, but what is the best way to post chapters on Patreon and similar places? I tried checking out other's accounts and most post by just plain text in the post. Is this the best way? + I would be grateful for any tips about all that. Thanks in advance.

Patreon is sadly poorly equipped for us authors. Plain text is the main way that people use. I suppose you could format chapters into documents but that is just way too much work for almost no gain.

I saw many writers simply post plain text. However, as a reader, I find it is not very pleasant to read.

Pirateaba - The Wandering Inn - locks the latest chapter on their WordPress site, and you can get the password on patreon to unlock it.

I'm also curious now. Are there other waus to do it ?
Addendum : plain text format was not the problem for me. It was the white background. No dark mode over there on Patreon :er_what_s:

Thankfully, I always keep a copy of my formatted chapters locally. SH is already rich-text compatible anyway, so what I write and format here will carry over if copy pasted to MS Word/LibreOffice Writer and vice versa. Few clicks away from "convert to pdf" and done.

How do they stop people from just giving the password to their friends?
Unfortunately, you can't. With that certain Patreon-scraper around, all we could do is change the pass periodically.

I believe they can't stop it. This is not the only type of content concerned by this problem (movies, games, songs, ...)

Some authors place hidden text in their chapters which gets displayed on other websites who used scripts to download the content.
Use tokens. 1 code can only be used by 1 user with a limited validity period.
Strictly speaking, it works for the code. But it doesn't stop anyone from copying the text once they get the chapter.
