This is similar to my previous post about ideas but instead I’m going to work on it in the back and only post once the ‘plan’ is finished (which characters included, how long it will go, and the ending). This one might seem more vague than the other one but I’m open for suggestions.

Who knows. I might be inspired and really use it.

The poll this time consists on a number of tropes, so there won’t be one answer. You can basically give votes to the ones you like without any care. The chosen tropes are just those that are interesting me and might be a bit specific.

1) Trope: Sword reincarnates as living being, Shared body

— Description: The Hero’s Holy Sword is taken by Demons after he dies and is destroyed, but it manages to live on by attaching itself to a nearby living being. Because it is an inanimate object and doesn’t know how to breathe, the creature it is living in shares the body with the Holy Sword.

Doesn’t have to be a ‘Holy Sword’. Could be a cursed sword, spear, staff, etc. The being the inanimate object reincarnates into is also free to be explored. Humans are just the more easier choice since they can easily be engaging.

— Reasoning: I like it when beloved objects of a person like that person back secretly and try helping out. This trope is basically just a way to spice up the usual ‘Reincarnation’ or ‘Transmigration’ via making the sword a main character too. Not just some tool to be used.

————————————

2) Trope: Battle Academy Romcom Fun

— Description: When you are just having lighthearted interactions like the early part of the novel “The Demon Prince of the Academy” (which most who know goes horribly wrong in the second half to the point of readers calling it a ‘character massacre’ instead of assassination).

The main character working hard on his skills while participating in plot events. This does not have defined lines on how the main character should be but just that the early parts will be about character growth for the teenagers.

— Reasoning: I like it when characters start of being either annoying or distant but end up getting close due to interacting a lot. My early works used to just be me trying to make characters mesh. Even the most unlikely ones.

————————————

3) Trope: Contracts Made With Constellations

— Description: I like the idea of ‘borrowing power’ from fictional mythologies (not the real myths themselves). I don’t like it when the story has to be constrained by the accomplishments of a myth. Like how making Olympus canon would by extension make Zeus’s ‘exploits’ real.

Plus stories like Omniscient Reader has proved that beings that have ‘meta’ ways of interacting with the plot are fun. Like the story of ‘Anansi’ and the constellation turning you into Spider-Man or something, but with different powers.

— Reasoning: I like meta existences in the story that can interact with the plot in fun ways. Like when you can actually talk to the concept of time and beat him/her to a pulp if they don’t accept the time paradox you made. It just sounds funny.

————————————

4) Trope: Time/Space Manipulation

— Description: Whether it’s going back, forward, or just using stasis fields like the Wizard King from Black Clover. The main character uses this power with limits attached based on the kind of plot this is. Time Regressors can control how far they can go, and Manipulators control the depths of their ability. Even if it’s OP or weak.

Kinda like ‘Hand Jumper’ (forgot the name) where the FMC uses a five second time rewind power to fight great foes. Also knowing her limitations and is sometimes in a bind because five-second rewind isn’t OP. That kind of thing.

— Reasoning: I like abilities that aren’t necessarily OP, but CAN be game-breaking if used creatively. The main point is creativity since using that kind of power raw is too simple. Gotta make some very annoying limits to balance it out. Like needing to truly sacrifice something.

————————————

5) Trope: Two bodies, one consciousness

— Description: A noble reincarnates into both a merchant and commoner. Having to use his own knowledge while learning new things. People think his two F/M bodies are in a romantic relationship due to their ‘not talking but understanding each other anyway’ attitude.

This can be pretty funny if used correctly. I remember a novel I used to read that had a misunderstanding early on that caused one body to be ‘kidnapped’, and the other have no choice but to adventure in order to survive the world.

— Reasoning: I like it when knowledge is linked with progression. Like if one body doesn’t know or have the ability to find one thing, the other body looks it up and studies. Or even now Lookism has a body switching dynamic in it.

————————————

6) Trope: Monster Abilities Are Learned

— Description: The main character gains the ability to learn the abilities of monsters, but can’t make an entire list so he has to choose which ones to keep. These abilities distinctly different from human powers, and can have interesting synergies with either technology or techniques.

Similar to how ‘Reborn As A Monster’ stories give the character monster abilities, but without actually turning the protagonist into that said monster. Like a living human learning an undead’s spirit control, or having slime sweat because they can’t transform into a slime body.

— Reasoning: I like ‘Reborn As A Monster’ tropes, but I’m not interested in making my character an outcast from society (at least not early on). The concept of having the power of the enemy just reminds me of Attack on Titan or Tokyo Ghoul. Lets you see into their perspective.

————————————

7) Trope: Game Logic Is Applied After Rebirth

— Description: Like that one FPS Isekai where the main character reincarnates with a gun and buffs for accuracy. Even having technology that does not exist in the world due to it being ‘alchemised’ through a game rather than reality.

The main point here is that the main character can apply this game logic onto reality in whatever form. Fighting game nerds become their favourite freaky character. Shooting game fans find ‘chests’ scattered around randomly.

— Reasoning: I like games and the systems that make them fun. Seeing how that could liven up reality in the story would be fun. Does not have to be an Isekai as ANY game can be brought into reality, even if it exists in the fantasy world itself.

————————————

8) Trope: Superpowers Can Be Linked

— Description: Like how ‘One For All’ in My Hero Academia linked the predecessors to the current user. Rather than simply ‘working together’, the characters create an irreversible bond that can affect the growth of ther superpower greatly.

I don’t see this often and don’t really have much examples since the premise itself denies those that grow independently. The main character HAS TO have a partner and help them grow the same rate at him. They become vital plotwise.

— Reasoning: I don’t like it when the main character leaves the rest of the cast in the dust due to his amazing abilities. Having this link established between one or more characters makes it so their growth is character relevant.

————————————

9) Trope: Cards Have The Superpowers

— Description: This comes from an already established genre not widely known in the west due to it being niche here. The premise is that these ‘cards’ created by human hand can summon monsters, use abilities, and can be either refined, fused, or split to create different variants of themselves. The only drawback is that cards are consumable sometimes.

— Reasoning: I liked YuGiOh and there are some interesting novels I’ve seen that plays with the concept of ‘mortal’ grade to ‘legend’ grade cards but not that the latter is better. It somehow seems cool to me now when someone brings out their special ‘Deck’ that says a lot about them.

Battle academy romcom stuff is ALWAYS a big hit with readers. It's def worth pursuing. If I hadn't been so busy with my dayjob I would have finished my magical academy story since that one was (and still is) my most read/favorited story

It is easier to vote AGAINST some of these than FOR them... I'd toy with having a party of characters with linked abilities (kind of like Power Rangers but without the Zords - they just are stronger together but don't have a separate fighting form EXCEPT...
One character dies early on and comes back ... animating the armor he or she wore and the enchanted sword this character carried had recently gained awareness somehow and now finds itself split between the sword and the new wearer of the armor, who frequently has arguments with the armor and the sword... Three minds, three items but only two truly active at any one time.
