As for my personal opinion, the answer is no. I have been looking up forums of people who practice it and had wives who have slept with the triple digits since they started as well as looked up articles on psychology today, health line and a few other places that…

… tries to explain the evolutionary psychology of competition making the male (one being cucked)… produce more sperm… so their sperm can compete and win getting to the egg for offspring.

Im sorry (not really, more curious to see what people who see this would vote) I made this unscientific poll but I would still like to see results. I’ve made all answers anonymous of course.

Also, I’ve been cheated on before and I was traumatized by it, so I guess reading the experiences of people who got turned on by it is somewhat interesting.

I wrote about a dimension where the currency was innocence. You paid with your innocence and you could gamble and gain it as well. Very interesting story. The lead on the team thought he found a sure fire way to win big, screwed up and got way in debt.

Yeah. It's just about what you think such a thing would be. Anyways, I find that story to be more romantic than NTR fiction.

If we're going by the definition of Cuckolding being any extramarital/extra-relational sex then yes it can be romantic depending on the situation. I could see it being used as a way to "prove" how much a character loves another character despite having sex with others. Or it could just be multiple characters enjoying sex with others and looked at positively all around in the context of the story, especially if it includes bdsm themes.

However, I think that for the people cuckolding fiction is usually written for it basically can't be romantic. I think it's hard to get behind any romance that occurs during cheating or humiliation of one of the characters. Or a story that turns the cuck into a permanent 3rd party in their own relationship.

I think sex can be decoupled from romance but I know it's hard for a lot of people to separate the two in their minds. Even if it's hard that doesn't mean it's not possible for it to be romantic but nothing will ever be equally romantic to everyone anyway.

I think that monogamy would work better if non-monogamy was more openly accepted because the non-monogamous people wouldn't feel so pressured to lie to monogamous people about their intentions, and then the monogamous people could just be happy with each other instead of worrying about if their partner is keeping secrets.

it’s actually a 2 layered question and I think you’re the first to mention it.

First we would have to define romance, which I’m sure most would have different definitions of then there is the question of enjoyment.

Since I define romance as something exclusive, the act of cuckolding which even if consensual is inclusive to another party, it would never be romantic to me.

Fappable? yes. Romantic? No.

So while I can agree some people will say yes that it’s possible because they have a different definition of romance, since it requires a third party I can’t see it that way.

there are monogamous people who will see a poly as a “project” in that case.

I don't like the idea and personally wouldn't do it under any circumstances. However, your poll is based on definitions, which is why I said yes. If both partners willingly enter a cuckold or swinging relationship, you can kinda call it romantic. It's their definition of romance(probably).

I don’t find harems romantic at all. I actually hate the negative fallout the jealous female characters have.
