My villains scheme way too much and their plans will only get more complicated in the future.
Yes. This is a thing that exists. I will confirm it exists. So, I've been seeing this trope where the villain gets introduced, shows how powerful they are but when they get to meet the MC.
They have an inner dialogue on top of their heads that says.
"Am i going to lose? Me? The all-powerful?!"
"I guess i bit more than i could chew"
Or
"What a monster."
Mind you, the MC already finished his time skip training arc/nightmare training/near death but had an instant epiphany and they somehow acknowledge how weak and pathetic they are/flashback about a random girl/woman/person that he/she barely knew and asks "Who are you? Ah, i remember. It's X"
Well, I think it is more of a side effect of the standard template that exists for a reason.this cliche trope is already ingrained in minds of most readers so it's a bit of a go-to for authors.
you'd rarely see a few stories with a new way to portray villains.
it's been a cliche for so long it became a tradition to at least have 1 villain like that in many stories.
