My parent(s) don't know I'm writing. Aunty was coming over so I had to go full, remove sus stuff mode. Deleted whole chapter, cant find backup, she still came, and left (temp) and now one of my 1.5 k word chapters is gone. Pray to me.

What I do is change the file extension. From gimpdwarfbsdm.txt to gimpdwarfbdsm.mp3. Can't be opened unless they know what to turn it into before hand.

I've found myself constantly jumping from lap top to laptop and computer to computer. When I have free time, I log onto here and get some writing done. Just save everything in a chapter dated to post in 2024 then you just have to log out of here to make sure nobody can access it.

Either that, or save it to google drive. It has the advantage you can access it easier from multiple computers.

Just save things to a hidden folder that normally isn’t accessible like in users/appdata.
Use a cloud storage service that requires login credentials to access.
Hell you can even just encrypt the file itself so it requires a password to open.
Save it to a USB drive.
There’s so many solutions if you actually care so much about it being found.
Btw just because you delete the file doesn’t mean it can’t be recovered even if you remove it from the recycling bin. Deleting something typically only sets a flag indicating it’s marked for deletion so something else can be written later on to those locations on the drive. The data is still actually saved to that part of the drive unless you use a utility tool to properly delete it by recording random 0s and 1s to the location the file is actually saved to on the drive. So if you use a recovery tool someone could still probably recover it so long as you aren’t unlucky and something new hasn’t already been saved to those locations of the drive. If I was your aunt and I was a snoopy bitch I’d just run a recovery tool because it’d be pretty obvious that the things you don’t want being found would be stuff you’ve deleted.
