Aside from those already menetioned, there's a new one, I didn't really try it out yet, but as it is new, it should still be quite clean when it comes to "bad habits" (if you know what I mean).
storyforge.com

I don't actually know. I was a user for about a year, then one day I woke up and found out my account had been banned. When I contacted them about it, nobody could name any specific rules that I had broken, just that I was "argumentative." When I asked why they had banned me and not the trolls who openly harass people in the forums, they stopped replying.

Yeah, I'm still kinda pissed about it.
Welp .-.
I mean, I just found out why the Reviewing System is so toxic. I reported a review, because it irked. Not only was it borderline inkoherent, but also ended on the high note of "don't recommend this unless you have literally nothing else to read". I'm paraphrasing, but I'm pretty sure on the key words, because I've been looking at this shit just before and quoted it when reporting.
Anyway, turns out you can't even report that. You can report someone telling you to stop writing directly or indirectly, but not if they discourage people from reading your story (and I don't mean by just making it sound bad by complaining, but literally telling people not to read, as I said). I already expected it to not go through, but that he would at least have to delete that unhelpful and disrespectful line. But nope, they apparently saw no problem - I actually thought for a second they may come back at me for misreporting or some crap.

(no rules; be careful with some of the weird stuff people post.)
Well, I see no problem with that.

Oh, I guess SubStack (Home | Substack and an app) should be mentioned if it hasn't been already - until early 2023, it was only for newsletters and non-fiction, but they've been embracing serial and short fiction for almost two years now.

Did someone already mention Medium (medium.com)? It seems to be fee-based and I'm not sure if you can post stuff without a paid membership but it has some good stuff on it

I got suspended there for a week, I think it was.
Someone had started a thread asking about what adult things we like in stories and quite a few people responded. After all, it was obvious what the thread was about.
We got suspended for adult content.

If you had responded to the troll, they could have considered you to be argumentative. Some trolls act in ways just inside the lines, so when you respond you get blamed. Often done by using double meanings or pushing the limits of what's acceptable socially. Even outright crossing them, but still within the lines.

I am not a troll (or so I claim), but I can and have, made many sick jokes hidden by people not really understanding what exactly I mean, or having alternate meanings that may be considered clean. I once responded to the chat area in a forum based RPG called "The Omniverse" with 5 pedo jokes, 2 joking death threats, and other things all within a minute, before reading the notice that they were going to be cracking down on that kind of stuff. They never even noticed.
Got banned there because my character's actions were misinterpreted as breaking the rules powerwise. That one was an honest misunderstanding.

Point is, it is easy to make these comments that staff may not realize, but other people might.
I am not saying it may be due to them possibly being friends with the staff. I've seen that happen on a few sites that I won't be naming here in case I want to return to them.

If you are interested in adult stories, there plenty of sites to post on.
There is one site for interactive CYOA type stories you can add to.
Even of category being Non-Erotic
I happen to like it.
It is Chyoa.com

Tapas(booming right now)
Ritoria(dead outside of werewolf smut)
Wattpad(dead outside of smut)
Penana(very few writers)
Fanfiction.net(fanfiction only)
Ao3(mostly fanfic only)
Soyetsu(must be translated to Japanese)

I think you and I have had much different experiences. I have a decent fan-base for even my dungeon core stories on Wattpad despite it being practically unheard of onsite and one of them being only adjacent to romance (dead husband no new romance).

Penana has some writers, but almost no fanbase and is more of a blog than a writing site. You'll also get harassed by scam artists more than other sites.

You really have to be careful on Tapas as they are 150% anti-AI art and require you prove it's your art being used, even for a novel. You also have to be a comic to get decent readership or beg for reads in the forums. It's generally just not worth it for purely writers.

The rest I either agree with or have never heard of before.

I will note some other options.

No one should use WebNovel, even without a contract. They regularly have work stolen by coolnovels and won't do anything about it if you haven't signed their scummy contract.

Inkitt is good if you write anything with a strong romance plot in it.

SpaceBattles and Sufficient Velocity aren't bad, but have a learning curve and you have to DM admins if you ever want to remove your story. They are more of a forum than an archive, though.

Honeyfeed has next to no readership and what little there is rarely interacts with your story.

Medium is more of a blog and is practically dead.

Reddit Serials has a small readership and sometimes you get downvoted for seemingly no reason. You also need to carefully read and adhere to the rules.

Honestly, though, I'd say Wattpad, RoyalRoad, ScribbleHub, and Inkitt are the four most active and noteworthy options. Otherwise, it just isn't worth the effort to keep up with so many different sites. If a reader points out a flaw in twenty different chapters, are you really going to want to have to fix twenty chapters a dozen times over? I certainly don't enjoy my free time being eaten away at like that.

I think you should also consider if you plan to ever self-publish in the future OP. If you want to go that route, you need to position yourself in a way that eases the transition as much as possible. That means legit book covers, enough time to edit, and only posting to trustworthy sites you can easily remove your work from.

keep those lewded lolis out of this site plz.
Seriously. I've seen a couple people talking about loli crap and pedophilia on the forums already. If this is the kind of site that lets people post that kind of trash, I'm probably going to leave.

I guess the term has changed a lot since the Schoolhouse Rock days - though I think they spelled it with a Y ("Lolly, Lolly, Lolly, get your adverbs here...")

So, this site is an option. Noice.
No, this site is not. Scribblehub content guidelines don't want lolis doing explicit content. You can have explicit content or you can have lolis, but not both. https://www.scribblehub.com/content-guidelines/

If this is the kind of site that lets people post that kind of trash, I'm probably going to leave.
The people who post that stuff usually get their stories wiped from Scribblehub.

Lolly with a Y refers to a type of candy and is innocent

Loli with an I is the Japanese version of Lolita.
Lolita used to be a normal girls name until a guy wrote a book called Lolita.
In it the main character is a guy who is seduced by a girl the night before her 18th birthday, making her underage at the time, although she had been setting things up beforehand. It is used as an example of the "Unreliable Narrator" style of writing (Where you can't trust what the narrator is saying)
From this Lolita came to mean sexually active underage girl.

. . . .Must resist urge to add rude jokes about licking lollies . . . .

Two very important things
1) If you enter a store is Japan, or have Japense ot even some anime fans working here, just remember to be careful about asking if they have Lollies available. Some places may offer you Lolis. Although, it would be one way to explain away what you were asking for it is was a police trap . . .
2) The male version of a Loli is called a Shota. It is from a Japanese boy's name.

Depends what you are looking for...

forums.spacebattles.com (Try not to get banned challenge)
forums.sufficientvelocity.com (Try not to get banned challenge: California Fever)
forum.questionablequesting.com (Above two's little sister but with 100% more smut)
webnovel.com (Royal Road with the taste of oriental despotism)
moonquillnovels.com (Royal Road v. 1.1 with more fraud. If your story wasn't stolen yet, but can give it to them there)
tapas.io (Royal Road, California Fever, inclusivity with less fraud)
ritoria.com (where novels go to die)
archiveofourown.org/ (Wattpad, anarchist edition, with twice as many smuts)

I sugggest AO3 ...

Honeyfeed
SoFurry
Furaffinity
Honeyfeed editor is horrible (but not worse than Wattpad, same format).

It's for the anime inspired light novels, mostly. Do you remember my lesson about the cat girls of questionable age?

Furaffinity doesn't even support stories.

SoFurry Does, they have workable editor, but there is no audience for them.

It's not allowed and I don't know of anyone here that would condone it in any sense. Most are usually reported and banned very quickly. Stories with that kind of writing is also banned as soon as it is found.

Yes it does
A very short story, perhaps, but nothing with more than the single chapter. You couldn't easily go forward to the next chapter, you couldn't easily find the novels, if there are searches they are presented as image galleries (despite being text)

Yes, and you still went to the Royal Road ...

It doesn't matter. You both want to wrote and have people see it. Why does it matter where you publish and how so long as you both are helping yourselves and others to reach the same goal.
