One of the best jrpg I have ever played is Detective girl of Steam city. It was sad that the dev couldn’t put out game of the same quality anymore.

It's boring af and quite dry now.

So I propose something, what if [kill god ---> Kill rat]. I dont know how, you guys figure it out
you start by reading Nietschze (not gonna look up his name) as a teen, liking philosophy enough to go to Uni as a philosophy major, not finding a job, encountering a global economic crisis, losing all your assets, having to kill rats to eat or smth

You're way more of a Nerd than any of us, you cringe ass fedora wearing reddit tier atheist.
And that, kids, is the reason nobody likes extremists. They feel personally attacked whenever someone argues, or even worse, uses sarcasm against them... They even result to vile hate speech like calling other people reddit tier.

Also for your information, I'm a christian myself, I just don't take things serious. No need to start a crusade just because I forgot a don't.

Simple enough. I just wanna ask y'all's thoughts about the cliched JRPG progression [kill rats ------------> kill god]

I am simply curious about this so comment down below if you think killing gods is a great activity
Okay, no kill. How about befriend? Progress from tame rat to buddy uber-meta-deity. That could work just as well as a stock progression sequence for litRPG.
Probably not as many action sequences, though.

Isnt that just the premise of undertale [and in the far future probably deltarune as well]?

Regardless, it would fuck, i would think.

God has to actually exist for it to be killed. Getting me to believe the "exist" part is the first step. (y)

After that- if it breathes, it can be killed. The problem is that the writers tend to be shit at doing the explaining part that get the MC from Rat level to God slaying level. It either loses touch and the Writer jumps through hoops, fails at the power scaling, or outright shits the bed in terms of fun story telling. That's the primary reason I tend to not read them anymore.

The systems, however, sometimes are pretty cool and I wish there were games out like them. SAO was pretty neat when I first saw it but the writer bombed on it. It was such a fantastic system and the world was dope. But the Writer went into some bullshit and now it's just blegh. Danmachi is probably the best, I'd say, but it does have it's falling points and "plot armor" holes.

Sorry, but Jesus calls on us to be extremists.

Power scaling is a mess but I do get the orgasmic sensation of besting even deities with the grindset, so I am fine.

I mean, gods are the limit, what's next after deicide? Dei-deicide?

Also, killing gods is just another expression, like climbing the tallest mountains to diving the deepest seas. A big middle finger to the fragility of man.

Kill a god. It's fun.

Ps. From Initial D, "what is a god? A god is a mortal. But because he can do what others can't, hence he's a god"
An author can just create some kind of primordial multiverse thing as the next tier.

Like in he who fights with monsters, gods are planet specific. The things above them are cross planet, cross dimension, cross dressing.... whatever.

And Multiverse of Madness and Bayonetta 3 are what will happen. Messy crap and things going fucky.

I strongly sympathize with the desire expressed in that video essay. The world is too messed up, and having a scapegoat to beat up is a great stress relief. Doesn't really fix the problem, but it's a good way to kill time. Curiously, I'd say the newer DOOM games actually follow the same formula. Good stuff.

I'd agree that just slaughtering dozens of gods left and right is probably just power creep though. You need an end goal- an antagonist to stop, a place or people to save, so on. Without that, the story is pointless and boring. Just killing gods isn't enough on its own. They need to be or represent a threat.

So it's a trope with its good points and bad points, like most tropes. I'd say its mostly good though.
