Cats should be much easier to train, since they are both social, and have maternal instincts, hence they try not to litter and also keep themselves clean.

Should be? Cats refuse to be trained. The only easy stuff to train you cat in is where to go in toilet and when food is coming. And it is just heavily tied to their instincts.
Cat will not going to be a bro and help you by itself. At best he will cuddle you when he want to cuddle you.

Sounds more like dog hate than than anything to promote cats, but to each their own.

Getting on the train, though, the worst case scenario with a dog is that it mauls somebody to death. The worst case scenario with a cat is that it drags a copper-head into your house (speaking from experience,) which is easily mitigated simply by not having a cat-door if you are living in an area that has poisonous snakes.

So, yes, there are cases where each can cause death, but the cat needs an intermediary and there's several more points of intervention in the cat method.

Cats are pest control. If you have a strictly outdoor cat and feed it just enough for it to be full but not enough for it to feel completely satisfied, it will go around the slaying all the varmints in the neighborhood.

Cats are pest control. If you have a strictly outdoor cat and feed it just enough for it to be full but not enough for it to feel completely satisfied, it will go around the neighborhood slaying all the varmints in the neighborhood.

Actual experience suggest that they most likely will simple munch of several families because this days there is always someone willing to feed one. And cats that like to hint kill much more than needed to eat anyway, of course it is still possible to overfed the cat to the point where he is physically unable to hunt.

Dogs also can do pest control. Survival of the ground where your summer house is isn't guaranteened.
