(I was unsure if I should post this on Artist General or not, but felt it would be more appropriate here. Sorry if wrong :s_smile:)

I might commission a cover art in the distant future, and wanted to ask around for good sites (things like your experiences, good or bad, and whether you could easily find artists with your preferred style).

How much are you planning/willing to spend and what styles are you looking for?

ArtStation is a real big one that artists use for showcasing work. They have a function for viewing artist availability and a lot of filters to search for specific styles. So that seems like a good option as well.

I went on several art commission subreddits and looked around for good art and prices over a few months before commissioning

In general, if I commission someone to create a character for me, am I allowed to make small changes to the final design? For example, changing blue eyes to red.

Changing colors is usually no problem. Positions and such though can be.

Many have the policy, changes in pose and general appearance during scetching phase. Hence they do send like a mid stage where you can tell them about all the changes in general.

If you do changes of greater dimensions on the finished art it's always possible but it will most likely result in extra charges from a certain point on (meaning if you do it more then once or the change is like really really big.)
